I asked the question earlier today of 2-3 friends of mine about "Where are all the videos showing people dying enmasse in hospitals?"  A few of the medical folk immediately responded with HIPPA.  Laugh.  I mean, other than the CBS picture they used of a hospital in Italy, and tried to pass it off as a NY hospital, I haven't really seen much coverage here in the US.

At any rate, as karma would dictate, someone threw up a video on this very subject a few minutes ago.  Thought I'd share it with my VJ friends and family.  (Not trying to say this is the norm everywhere, but it IS near the epicenter here in the US):

Hard to say, but it has to be pretty recent, so I'd say you're right.

There's been quite an increase in hospitalizations and deaths this week, so hard to know what it looks like now.  I think I read most people stay ten days on ventilators, so I guess it's slowly jamming the hospitals, and then some workers get sick there too, so less of them to care. 

 

Feeling safe at home now, canceled many work trips until September (and vacations).  Husband in full protective mode, and I am grateful we are getting to spend that much time together.  Things seem to be okay-ish in Boston, so far.  More worried for good friend in the Keys and family in AL, not as many hospitals beds right by them, and they just started to stay home.

Yeah, I can't see cameras being allowed into our ERs.  Our Ground Zero ER is like Fort Knox.  Not just security, but cops.  

 

I promise there are not people struggling to breathe, laying on the floors in corridors, though.  At least not here in Washington State.

“Under this policy, we have asked reporters who don’t have a seat not to attend press briefings,” the board’s note read.

“We are writing to inform you that the WHCA Board has voted this evening to remove a news outlet from the rotation for a seat in the briefing room,” it continued. “We did this because a reporter for this outlet twice attended press briefings in contravention of this policy. We do not take this action lightly. This is a matter of public safety.”

Now we're down to weaponizing "social distancing" to target journalists of opposing ideologies. A desperate media that has nothing left but trying to censor other journalists that don't parrot the same orange man bad narratives. 😂

 

Thankfully, their attempts failed horribly.

Security is very tight in major hospitals right now. Even at our rural hospital security is tighter than I've ever seen it. If people are desperate to see videos of the dead they will come eventually... but hopefully the doctors and nurses are more interested in trying to save lives.

 

I spent months last year in and out of several major hospitals, including the ER and ICU. Maybe some of you just don't know what a trauma hospital is like, but I know for myself when I arrived one "normal" afternoon it was bedlam with all manner of patients in agony not being seen, and some that had initial triage left stacked in the halls and waiting rooms. Seeing that day, I cannot imagine what it is currently like now at that hospital and the chaos it now has. Our local hospital has rumored 8 ICU beds and 3 vents. That's it. On a good day most of the critical people they wont even deal with and will send down to the hospitals across the state line. You do not want to go to that hospital, they will kill you, and they have lost several COVID patients now. Pregnant women are being turned away elsewhere. One rural hospital has reached capacity with elderly patients on vents.

 

Our best hospital in Bmore is a wonder to behold, but security was always tight even on it's best day, but then there has been many rumored terrible things happening there lately. You aren't getting cameras into an ICU, and you're getting no visiting at all now. It is doubtful a hospital of that great size is going to have patients stacked through the halls unless there was a major crush, but I cannot speak to the quality and size of hospitals that might be dealing with this in NYC. You can very often see the great wealth poured into our most famous hospitals (it's just what we do and they provide major workforce for MD's economy). I can imagine how bad it could get though. So.. at some point my dad was in the ER quite sick with a particular bad thing. When I say bad thing, it's a thing that nurses were freaking out about and the protocol was to wear full PPE around him. Some nurses didn't even want to touch him, and I understand... but at the end of the day it is their job and they hopefully made an oath to care for the sick. It takes a certain kind of special to be that caring. Now it was very full for an ER that day, but *not* as bad as the conditions I described earlier though they did have a guy threatening people to remove a fishhook out of his hand. But an hour into our visit the hospital went into lockdown mode and the entire ER had to be cleared out. There had been an accident at a military base and they needed to decontaminate and treat the patients. Things got really crazy as every single patient was DUMPED out of the ER and into every single waiting room, hallway, even outside they could spare. All states of undress, screaming, hacking, bleeding, vomiting, IV poles, poo/pee, you name it.. it was happening. Except for us group of course. We were left in the ER with the 'contaminated' person, because they deemed my dad too risky to the public! We wondered if there was a risk to us from what they were bringing in, but they refused to even so much as tell us anything, and did not want us using our phones.

 

Sometimes things get crazy in a hospital on all levels. I can only imagine how bad conditions are in some of them right now, and I've heard many reliable stories. You can actually listen to the scanner for NYC, and the calls they are getting constantly are distressing and too numerous to be anything that's ever normal.
