I think the closing of the schools early on was a big part of it.  Also, this area is a tech job hotspot, so more people are able to work from home, and started to do so long before the governor's Stay at Home order.

I work in the cancer center at the Kirkland hospital where most of the Life Care patients were treated at, and I went to work on Sunday, March 1, the weekend of the first deaths there.  I was the only nurse scheduled for 8 patients who were there for injections or home chemo infusion pump disconnects.  The hospital was weird that day.  All of the doors into the building were locked, except for the ER.  The door to our infusion center was locked.  Security was NOWHERE to be found to let us in, and the security guard who finally did show up was visibly frazzled.  Local news stations were set up around the perimeter, just off of the campus.

Everything around here changed after that.

Google the phenomenon known as "Seattle Freeze."  It is a thing, and it could be a contributor to why social distancing works well here.

Thanks for the information on the Seattle Freeze.  I had not heard of that before.  I hear things like that in Korea as well especially when it comes to foreigners.

The theory is that it harkens back to our Scandinavian immigrant roots.  That, and we have a preponderance of introverts here.

That, and aren’t there a lot of Asians in the Seattle area?  I am not saying Asians are cold and distant, but they do tend to practice physical distancing as a regular part of living (at least based on my anecdotal experience).

Absolutely!  My high school was 68% Asian, mostly Chinese, SE Asian and Filipino.  My heritage is Swedish/Finn, and I always felt I had way more in common with my Asian friends than with white Americans from other regions of the US, such as the midwest and south.

That chicken available for play dates?

The good thing about having my asawa's niece here is that she is helping my wife plant a raised bed garden in one of the fenced enclosures. Not to mention I came home and they had already put up the chain link fence on top of the regular fence to keep out the deer. So I don't have to "help out" a lot when I get home from work.

Man what a great day.  In spite of two little devil children, that alcohol has really helped.  Changed oil in a car and lawn tractor before I started serious drinking.  The rest of the day was by the pool with a drink in hand.  Don't know why people trust a drunk with cooking on the grill but.....  Perfect buzz all afternoon without getting too drunk.  Wish I could remember what the formula  was for the drink I really liked.  They just kept tasting better and better.

Any research on how alcohol protects from diseases?

What recipe did you end up with for the LLs?

Nope, I still had to cook the chicken while they were outside toiling away. When they came in my wife made some mashed potatoes and cooked the ribs for them.

Me neither. All my wife needed me to do after work today was move 500 lbs worth of wood panels from the garage to the basement. And to make sure I did, she had the delivery truck leave it all in my parking spot.

Unfortunately I was out of regular Jack Daniels so I used bourbon.  About a shot of bourbon with a little Jack Honey,  half a shot or so of Cointreau, 1/2 oz of fresh squeezed lemon juice (we had a bunch of lemons and that was part of the reason for doing this) and fill up with lemon lime soda.  Need to pick up regular Jack and see if that changes anything.

Did have a new bottle of Gentleman Jack that I picked up last year at the distillery but saving that for sipping.
