Home protection. Polishing? :P

I was thinking the same, how is he to protect you, and that could be considered sporting. You do need to keep the barrels clean, polishing is usually pretty minimal.

No! No firearms in the house. None. Or the house when we finally buy one.

I am not sure about visaholders not being able to purchase rifles but that is the line I told him and I am sticking to it. :P It's his fault if he chooses not to investigate further, and genuinely I do not know.

Edit to add: if he wants to keep it at another site, that's fine by me. I do not want to have a firearm in the house, and I was very clear about it very early on. He agreed with me so this isn't a last minute thing.

i pray alex has the intestinal fortitude to straighten out your misguided thinking............
my issue with him and a rifle is - he needs more than one.  tell him to pm me so i can advise him on proper caliber selection.  at a bare minimum, he needs 2 rifles.  then we can discuss handguns  :)

DO NOT polish firearms!  that will damage the bluing, which is a protective finish to prevent rust.  (unless it's stainless steel, that is)

I appreciate everyone's best intentions, but he and I have discussed this and more than once. :) We are fine where we are without firearms, and he knows my stance which isn't changing. He isn't interested in using a firearm as home protection, and that predated knowing me. Just different attitudes that he and I have from other people. He enjoys shooting as a sport, and while I don't really get it, I understand other people do. To each their own, right?

UMMMMM BACK TO CORONAVIRUS NOW!

I just heard this -- LA is literally the next city over, so I expect that we will have something similar in place tomorrow: https://ktla.com/news/coronavirus/l-a-mayor-garcetti-expected-to-update-public-health-orders-in-response-to-covid-19/

Edit to add: missed it's for the COUNTY. Great. I'm  now staying at home. :( Garcetti says it is NOT sheltering in place but we will see.

I am not familiar with CA laws, surprised they discriminate against migrants.

To make up for it, CA can let them vote.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Well, tomorrow will be our first day under the new regime. I will report back. I have a UPS package at a CVS waiting for pickup, so at least I can pretend it was for something essential. I will buy some toiletries for cover.

Morning meeting. Several ask if they think its a good idea to have 22 people in a small room . Reply. There aint no regulation against it, this aint California.  Then ask the employe who stayed out sick if he feels better.

I've been trying to reach my primary care since last week because I believe I need treatment for something. I know that I can go to the clinic but I don't want to take that risk because allllll the crazy sick people go there. Eventually I thought, what the heck, maybe my OBGYN could help me.. afterall they are a doctor right? They were so kind and understanding and weren't afraid to see patients and several people were there also frustrated because they couldn't get a response from a primary.

Now I just have to wait at the pharmacy, which is like a complete warzone now. You have no idea. I went past the rural hospital.... they have a tent for 'potential infected' with armed guards and a line of very frightened and I assume sickly people snakes around the building. I'm going to assume a shelter in place is going to happen everywhere soon. We had an explosion of cases last night, which makes sense. Test more = more cases, but it's still not enough.

Inside sources this evening...  if you live in the PA-MD-DE area, you need to get your houses in order, fed and watered, meds stocks, ammo whatever you need soon. Lockdowns are coming possibly for more than a month. They've moved the Guard into B'more too.

And guys, I don't know if you can but consider donating to your local food pantry. On some local pages some of our more rural poor have found people basically coming and taking all the food before they can even get there. Pet shelters are also desperate for cleaning supplies and food, because everyone has taken it. We also have a very bad shortage of blood so if you can, consider that too.

I have my first grocery delivery scheduled tomorrow. Just a trial run, but I wanted to see how they do. I envision getting rotten fruit or eggs that are almost expired or something, but if they do good, I'll probably go to having all delivery for the time being.
