if he doesn't have multiple firearms and at least 1k ammo for each, he does not have potential....

Unfortunately no, I don't think L1 visa holders are eligible for licenses, esp. in California.

However he does look good in a faux-fur lined cape and sceptre (observed at a fancy dress party) and he can be quite loud and intimidating when irritated. But he does enjoy shooting, and we have had several semi-good-natured bickerings about how he would like to own a rifle again and go shooting once he's a permanent resident. I said if he gets a rifle (which I do not support) he cannot keep it at home. End of.

I sense it may be a gateway drug though.

So he can have pistols, shotguns etc in the house, or apartment? I am not familiar with CA laws, surprised the discriminate against migrants. Might be worth a check. NRA membership for his birthday?

I mentioned that to my wife earlier today and she just laughed.  Of course they are not reporting it.

No! No firearms in the house. None. Or the house when we finally buy one.

I am not sure about visaholders not being able to purchase rifles but that is the line I told him and I am sticking to it. :P It's his fault if he chooses not to investigate further, and genuinely I do not know.

Edit to add: if he wants to keep it at another site, that's fine by me. I do not want to have a firearm in the house, and I was very clear about it very early on. He agreed with me so this isn't a last minute thing.

So where is he supposed to keep them?

Can't you keep them at a shooting range? Guns are not my forte so forgive my ignorance about these things. I just don't want them at home. I do have one friend who goes hunting but I have no idea what he does with them. The only halfway house I think we could have, and which we have discussed, is a safe for the rifle, with ammo kept separately. Any rifle would be for sporting purposes only, that is another agreement we have if there is no way around storing it elsewhere. He has said my happiness and peace of mind are worth more than having any firearm at home.

I know my way, our way, isn't everyone's, but I don't judge others' choices on whether to have a firearm in the home. It's a personal preference.

What would he be using them for if not for sporting purposes?

Well Warlord purposes aside.

So what kind of man is he when he isn't allowed to keep firearms at home? My wife was pissed when I bought my AK-47 in CA but she still allowed it in the house.

You need to let him keep one in the house

How can he protect you if the gun is somewhere else?
