Moderna will have 20M coronavirus vaccines ready by year's end
Moderna said it's 'actively preparing' for the launch of its vaccine

The Massachusetts-based drug developer will be prepared to distribute the vaccine, dubbed mRNA-1273, around the country if its late-stage clinical study proves that it works and the feds approve it, according to company officials.

In its third-quarter earnings report, Moderna said it’s received more than $1.1 billion in deposits for the vaccine from governments around the world including $600 million from the U.S., which has an agreement to acquire up to 500 million doses.

But that all depends on whether the Phase 3 trial of the vaccine is successful and whether the Food and Drug Administration ultimately approves the shot.

El Paso police won't enforce judge's shutdown order

The Texas Attorney General said the order to close nonessential services is unlawful

A judge in Texas, ordered all non-essential services shut down in El Paso County this week in an effort to contain the coronavirus, but the police department said it won't enforce the order.

"Based upon the advice and recommendations of medical professionals and hospital administrators, effective at midnight tonight, I am ordering a shutdown of all non-essential services for a two-week period," El Paso County Judge Ricardo Samaniego said in a virtual news conference Thursday.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sent a letter to El Paso Mayor Dee Margo on Thursday night, explaining that Samaniego does not have the authority to order a shutdown. Gov. Greg Abbott’s recent executive order on reopening the economy, GA-32, “explicitly preempts all contradictory local orders,” he explained.

I was in Kroger last week at the checkout and 2 straight up redneck imbeciles are behind me ignoring the 6ft marks. Neither one of these ignorant trailer trash buffoons have on mask, despite store policy requiring one.

The lady starts hacking up a lung with a non stop deep bronchitis sounding  hack. Since I had already paid, I shot her a death stare and loudly told the clerk I would wait at the end of the counter. Poor clerk rolled her eyes at the hill hillbilly. The clerk should have refused her service. I wanted to cuss her out so bad

You should have called for the manager before you paid, and had said manager escort them outside.  It's not the clerk's job to do that.

It's a tough situation to be in. We have seen store employees getting attacked just for asking someone to wear a mask. I have the utmost respect for grocery store workers and people in the service industries who have to deal with this. They are trying their best to manage an already difficult situation, risking getting exposed to Covid everyday and then having to deal with the selfish jackasses who won't put on a mask for 5 minutes because it's all about them.

Most of the stores I go to around here won't let you in without a mask.

All the stores I have been to require a mask, which ones that you go to do not.

So the store we go to, most everyone complies with the state order and enters wearing a mask, though still plenty of old people that go in with the thing around their chin or half a lip.. whatever. One time we went in, and there was a group.. about six of them I think all not wearing masks. And they decided to take up an entire aisle and not move, coughing, talking about church and how 'god would protect them'. The baby one of them was carrying had a terrible rash and was hacking, while an older woman out of the bunch was licking her fingers and rifling through greeting cards. My sister.. still wearing her scrubs from a long day of seeing patients about lost it! My husband asked the employees if they could do anything about this and they said they couldn't enforce the order without calling the police. There has been many times I have wanted to just have it out with someone for being so disrespectful and really had to bite my tongue.

Now it's illegal not to wear them, but before it became mandatory, Walmart and Kroger were not enforcing a mask policy. Target always had security at the door even before the mask order was given.

Well Target I have not been into for a long time but City Market and Walmart up here were early adopters.

Every store cashier whom I've encountered recently is sick to high heaven of the face-diapering.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Well I had already paid and was waiting on the bag person to finish so I just moved to the bagging area.

Also my wife works there and is a very fast rising star so I kind of hate to show my butt.

Funny when she started, Hun I am afraid I wont be able to compete with local labor force. OMG I laughed so hard. when she was doing click list many days her pick count would be double the next highest persons.

I gave you a rep point just to remind you how good it feels, and all you go to do is acknowledge my Platinumship.

In all seriousness

we are supposed to wear them when with a customer or within 6 ft.  Most of the democrats wear them pretty much all the time, even if standing alone.

I wear one if I am dealing with a customer and they wear one. After all the mask is to protect others not yourself.
