Interesting discussion today about a report that highlights a patient in Hong Kong that was sick with COVID once, and then 4 months later was reinfected. Scientists claim this was a true reinfection because they sequenced samples on both occasions - and they were different strains. This could have important implications on how effective a vaccine could be or our general waning immunity to the disease once infected and recovered. https://www.statnews.com/2020/08/24/first-covid-19-reinfection-documented-in-hong-kong-researchers-say/

So a big question, if this was restricted to the mandated 50 persons, would this have definitely not occurred?

That's not really the point of it. The number is, in my opinion, artificial. There isn't a categorically "safe" number that fits every occasion and every set of guests. People are having normalish sized weddings because they feel like it, not because they have to. We all need to sacrifice a little for the greater good right now. I was planning on having 125-150 guests, reception at a loft space downtown. Now I have 5 guests, plus us and the officiant in my parents' backyard. We're having cupcakes and champagne. We will social distance and wear masks when we're close to each other. It's not what I dreamed of at all, but it does the job, and safely. The big blowout will be in 2021 or 2022. I'm not so very vain I care more about a party than the people I love.

Interesting, so when you eat with your friends you are basically on different tables, I am meeting a couple of friends for a beer and we have to be masked to the table but not at the table.

Down here, it's mask to enter or walk around (say to the restroom), but no mask required while seated.

Brewery requires mask to go to the toilet.

When we were in Estes Park that is how it was as well.  If you are standing, the mask must be on.

Umm, isn't that kind of common sense?  I mean we already know this about the flu virus and how it changes annually, and we certainly already know that there are multiple corona viruses out there, and even this latest one has appeared to mutate recently as already posted.  Now whether a vaccine can be broad enough to cover all possibilities, then I think we will get into an annual thing.

It all depends on one's risk decision.  There seems to still be a feeling that this virus can be contained or controlled.  Still not seeing evidence of that.

It's ALL artificial.

The six foot thing... complete bunk.  To understand why, watch someone who is vaping exhale, and see how far their cloud travels.

The number in a crowd... silly.  One covid carrier in 6 people will infect more than zero covid carriers in a 150 crowd.  What makes even less sense is people who feel sick going out in public these days.  Absolutely stupid on their part.

The requirement to wear a mask if one steps off their property... Completely asinine if no one is around.

I won't even get into the whole "masks make a difference" argument.

I think there were some who wondered if they had survived infection, if they could be reinfected as a possibility. This seems to prove it. Its also interesting that he was a host to two different strains, and I believe his second infection was mild to asymptomatic. I guess the question is he only made it through a 4 month gap to be reinfected, so how well will a vaccination work? The theory was one vaccine would work for all strains, but that may also call it into question. There were some who may have put out there erroneously, that once you got it, you could not get it again.

It would be interesting to do a study of those that have been exposed to other versions of corona viruses such as some of the milder ones that essentially cause a cold, or SARS or MERS as to how they fared if they were also exposed to Covid19.

It's been done for one of the cold strains of Coronavirus. I have a link somewhere I'll see if I can dig it up. IIRC, about 15% of people have no measurable antibody left at 1 year and were more susceptible to reinfection, with most experiencing milder symptoms. At one year, I think the issue was more with antibody titre's falling than it was with viral mutation.

Mrs. T-B. has a friend who got it twice.

Friend weighs about 4,917 tons.

Don't know if the two are related.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
