I do it every day with strangers, swapping pens and papers back and forth. My last couple both worked in Medical practices. Dont really know any way else to do it.

I try to do what is possible when possible.  I do have those coworkers Ithat constantly try to get right up in your grill when talking to you and I constantly start backpedaling.  Then they get offended.

Got one in particular I am always backing away from. He told me, " Well I am guess I am going to have to do business with you in order to get next to you"  I asked bewildered,  Why do you need to get next to me. I think invading ones space as profoundly is a dominance issue

Just an observation, but perhaps you are mixing up what you see at work and on FB with what we talk about here on VJ?  It seems you are trying to project what your experiences via those two areas are onto some of us here on VJ.

We all do what we need to to stay safe.  Some of us allow the media hysteria to scare us, and some do not.  Some need to be more cautious than others (and yes, I am one of the higher-risk peeps, as are my neighbors whom precede me by 20-30 years). At the end of the day, we are dealing with a virus that has many people unsettled at best, but our bodies will do what our bodies have done for centuries, fight it off.   Let's hope the economic disaster isn't much worse than the virus.

Going to lighten the mood here (maybe):

Its gotten absurd hasnt it. They crucified Facu for suggesting we should wear masks zs masks are nonsense,  then crucified him for pulling his down for a few minutes even though he gets tested daily and knows he is not postive .

The only caveat I will give is the mask argument was all over the place at the start of this

Dont neccesarily disagree with your assessment of the situation. I dont live in fear and said repeatedly that the economic downside cant be worse than the virus.

The only thing I am saying is lets all get on the same page, admit we have a major problem and do everything possible to stop it, without causing more downside

There's no reality by consensus, reality is just reality and either you accept or you don't.

The virus a few months ago was killing 7-8 in every 100 cases (also called 7-8% death/fatality rate), when there was less testing being done because people being tested were usually symptomatic or had health issues necessitating it. It's now down to 3.5% as of today, which means the last few months is 1-2%.

full-list-cumulative-total-tests-per-tho

Skyrocketing testing, skyrocketing cases, simple math. The more confirmed cases we get, the better picture we get as to how deadly this virus really is, unsurprisingly, the death rate is plummeting.

ICU utilization (77.9% on 7/25):

Still awaiting the "major problem".

Reality says "major improvement". 😎👍

7/25: 77.9%

7/26: 76.3%

Looking at the most populated regions, 80-85%, which is great news. If it keeps going down, it means hospitals can/should optimally be increasing elective surgeries again. We're a month away from back to school period, signaling the beginning of flu season, so taking the most cautious approach, it wouldn't be surprising seeing hospitals efficiently use that higher capacity anticipating an influx in a few months.

I went to buy some shoes today. The store required a mask, the aisles had directional arrows  and they asked for social distancing.

The store was doing good business, people were complying  and it was no burden to anyone.

I was shocked when after I finished shopping and went outside, there was not a communist party cattle car waiting to ship me off to the gas chambers.

We also went to another very large sporting goods store to look at shoes. The store suggested mask and  small groups but did not enforce it.

The people that ignored it respected no space were also a very identifiable demographic.

That reminds me of the wedding dress Alex showed me a pic of this morning:

Honestly I think the worst things about the dress aren't the lettering but the fact that (1) it doesn't fit her well (2) it looks cheap (the stitching is atrocious) (3) that neckline is awful and makes her boobies look saggy (4) someone with an obvious bikini tan across her back shouldn't wear a dress that exposes that and (5) SEE THROUGH SIDE PANELS.

Then of course I won't even go near the absolutely filthy box fan in the background of that second picture. :dead:

The camo dress is nicer imo.

I still wonder what hospitals base rate ICU usage is?  I am sure hospitals, be they profit, or nonprofit, don’t regularly have empty ICUs.  I know when my mom and dad were in the ICU prior to their passing, almost all of the beds were full and that was back in 2013/2014 respectively.

Doesn’t it depend more on how she feels about the dress, and not what others think?
