I posited this question before, and quite honestly it makes sense.  The N95 mask is meant to protect the wearer, not protect those around the wearer.  I see folks wearing these as well as more substantial respirators all the time at stores, etc.  Kind of selfish of them.

These N95 masks aren't likely to stop coronavirus, health experts say

Face masks with exhalation valves, instead of blocking particles that could spread COVID-19, actually allow the wearer’s germs to spread, according to health experts. Their ability to release large respiratory droplets in the air has some worried, including San Francisco health officer Dr. Tomás Aragón, who even signed an order in May warning of the potential dangers of these particular masks.

"Any mask that incorporates a one-way valve (typically a raised plastic cylinder about the size of a quarter on the front or side of the mask) that is designed to facilitate easy exhaling allows droplets to be released from the mask, putting others nearby at risk," the order reads.

If the kids I work with complain about having to wear a mask one more time, Imma send the ##### home.  He's like I don't care if I get sick.  The mask isn't FOR YOU!  It's to keep the old people in our store healthy when they're trying to buy some dang auto parts.

My sister wears an N95 at work, and this is additionally covered by another mask on top of that. The rest of the employees wear typical paper masks, however they constantly have negligent behavior so it's no surprise they're the ones getting sick. N95 will offer good protection for the wearer but not necessarily everyone else around them - still if everyone was wearing some kind of proper face covering + using good hygiene, this would drop risk significantly.

I don’t disagree, but I am seeing a lot of folks wearing N95s that include the breathing valve with no other covering.  This is not what is meant by masking up.

The virus itself can go thru cloth masks like water thru a screen door.  The same with the vents on masks.  However, I would say the benefit is limiting the saliva spray that most folks offer up without a mask on.  Just talking, many people spray saliva several feet thru the air, and this is at least minimized by any face covering.

But if a person has covid, every time they exhale thru 93.249% of the masks in use today, their breath vapor goes around the mask, particularly just below the eyes (people who wear glasses know this well).  So the virus IS getting around too.

I went back several pages, and you seem to be the only member who refers to covid as a scam or fake.  Why is that?

What is a scamdemic?

Coronavirus: Florida records highest one-day COVID-19 death toll

https://www.wesh.com/article/florida-coronavirus-deaths-july-23/33404536#

Florida reported

173 new coronavirus-related deaths

The state also reported

10,250 new cases

1.68%

Quote

According to the state’s Agency for Health Care Administration, hospital bed availability statewide stood at 21.58 percent on Thursday morning. Miami-Dade, one of the hardest-hit counties, comprising 24 percent of the state’s total cases, reported 18.58 percent hospital bed availability on Thursday morning.

While several hospitals across the state are reporting no adult ICU bed availability, the statewide availability stands at 15.78 percent.

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) addressed the rising concerns over ICU bed availability this week, reminding the public that ICUs tend to run around 88-90 percent capacity.

An ICU is not a fixed product,” the governor explained. “If there’s expanded need then they can expand those types of services.”

What's the bad news again?

In a normal world, this is good news.
