This will be struck down quickly.  I have no problem ordering them to quarantine, and it appears they did. The just didnt like the contract.  Probably more to the story. I am usually right about more to story cases

Just caught up on this thread and I'm honestly finding it entertaining to see the back and forth between the two sides. Although I'm on vacation, I personally don't think it's a hoax, and I feel I've been pretty consistent all throughout with how I look at this. Initially, I thought we needed stricter measures, as it seemed out of control in some countries or areas, not only to flatten the curve, but also to buy some time until we learn more about it. I still think that was the right move to make. I always held that around May would be the right time to gradually reopen, and indeed, that seems to be when most places started to, however some of them didn't do it very gradually or smartly and are suffering now. Those who did it properly seem in much better shape, and you can relatively safely do almost any activity now, provided that you take certain precautions.

don't think anyone, even those who did it wrong, should completely close again. We do know more about the virus now, we know what to do to minimize risk, and what people need to realize is that no one really knows what's going to happen in the way of will there be a vaccine this year? next year? will treatment get better? will the virus disappear on its own? The fact is if you keep putting stuff off thinking that next year will be better, you might find out next year is worse. So I said this two months ago and will say it again - it's time to learn to live alongside this. We originally postponed our vacation by 1 month, but now, this is what we are doing, living alongside it. We have had many people ask us if we're crazy for doing so, especially since we left the safety of the state with the lowest number of confirmed and active cases, as well as the second lowest number of cases per 1 million people - and I don't think we are. I have done plenty of research on it and we take all the measures we can(not just for avoidance but also as far as giving our body what it needs goes).  We have had 4-5 indoor dining experiences so far, we have taken 4 planes, and will be taking more. It's been over a week since we left and so far we are doing fine.

I will say this - as far as masks go, I think they can be useful. I don't agree with anyone thinking people who don't wear them are rude, provided that that person keeps a safe distance(which imo, and the WHO agrees with me, is the most important thing, more than the mask). I do have issues with people who don't wear a mask in certain situation and still won't keep a distance. I also have an issue with people who wear a mask and don't keep a distance. My wife made some masks from quilt cotton fabric and there's also silk for an inner(third) layer which makes it not feel as terrible on your face. We have some pretty cool patterns so I don't mind them, it's almost a fashion statement. They look pretty, they feel good, they're breathable and, in certain situations, I think helpful, so we wear them in those situations. However I will never be a believer in wearing them walking down the street when no one is around you.

Travelling during covid also certainly has its perks. We have concluded that in some ways, This is the best time to travel. For one, the flying experience has been one of the best I've ever had. With no one sitting next to you, you're free to move around more, and wiping down our own area is alot easier without so many people in the way(which we still do, because despite what they say, imo, they're still not cleaning them properly, and they are still disgusting and filthy). Airports are almost empty. Security is swift, getting your baggage takes like 2 mins. In addition, destinations aren't as full. Some due to capacity restrictions, some due to most people just not having the guts to travel yet, and some a combination of both. When we were in Mexico, we went snorkeling with whale sharks and manta rays, saw dozens of each. Some of the sharks just hung around us. You can almost kinda mesmerize them if you swim right above them at their own pace and they think you're one of them. Then they go anywhere you go. We wanted to name this one that was with us for like 30 mins and take it home...amazing creatures. I mean...they were so comfortable with us I could have put my hand in its mouth if I wanted to. We were also totally alone in the middle of the ocean with them for two hours somewhere between mexico, the keys, and Cuba. Usually there are dozens of boats with people there. Our resort there was also pretty empty when we checked in, although it started filling up by the time we checked out.

It seems like a trend, like people are following us or something. 4 days ago, our resort in FL seemed pretty empty too, but in the last couple of days it seems like alot more people have come. I was told it's somewhere around 29% full right now, which is an improvement after it went almost down to 0 after the protests and spike in cases(the link to protests was actually made by a hotel employee). Right before that, and after the curve was initially flattened I guess it made it up to 67% at one point. More and more it seems like people are travelling and we're not the only ones though. Parks are getting fuller. Life goes on. We take our own temperature and oxygen twice a day. Hotel takes temperature once a day as well, as do some attractions. This is the new world ya'll. If we stay home now we'll never leave.

My thought process was similar, but only that if we caught it early enough it might have justified shutting things down then. But after seeing this, the methodology of keeping certain emergency centers full while others remained empty, was just insanity, and seeing the intent of people trying to shut things down just to "get Trump" and hurt him vis-a-vis election 2020, it was quick to understand this had nothing to do with health to begin with. America is in a bad place when health is compromised by bad faith agenda driven politics.

Back to Obamacare.

As I posted the other day, the CEO of 34 South Florida hospitals says they are nowhere near capacity, and have plenty of vents.  That's not to say a competitive hospital in a nearby town isn't full, of course.  So much disinformation out there to cull thru.  And so much hyperbole in the media.

Can't help but think that, post-Trump, whether 2021 or 2025. All this universal stuff is just window dressing, the left realize the power is actually in the corporate world, since they control the government, and thoughtpolice workers outside the workplace. Atm a universal healthcare they're pitching looks like a corporate mandated nightmare worse than Obamacare.

Seems like someone here said this recently, and was mocked for saying such a thing could happen.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention acknowledged on Friday it had mixed together results from viral and antibody coronavirus tests on its website.

Eleven states also confirmed mixing viral and antibody test results.
The CDC says it's planning to separate those numbers in the coming weeks, but experts say the current method is unhelpful and potentially misleading.

Yup.  Just goes to show those YUGE numbers aren't, really.  And it's still happening, at least in FL.  And the number of positives from people who never got tested seems to be rising, though that is anecdotal evidence from friends, nothing I found online.

One of these days, we will finally get around to sorting the influx of data and parsing it in a more accurate way.

When compared to the current death rate in New York it's about the same.  Remember the demographic has shifted younger and our treatment protocols are much better.
