Here is why I think so many major companies are requiring masks. This companies do anything in their power to reduce risk exposure. Many of them have very active Risk Management departments as do the people that write their insurance. I am sure some risk analysis people told them not complying with CDC guild lines gave the massive risk exposure. I think its going to trickle down and underwrites are going to start requiring it.

It helps nothing that the alleged "experts" have flip-flopped on the topic.  Even The WHO and CDC and Fauci.  There are studies that show they reduce risk and studies that show wearing a cloth mask actually increase chances of getting sick.  And then there's the goofy 6-foot rule.  Watch a person vaping exhale, and see how far that cloud travels.  SD never shut down, nor did they ever mandate masks.  Then again, I think most people live at least 19 miles from one another.  

 

I'll be glad when all of this is over and I can come pout of my basement.  I'm tired of having the neighbors tie canned food to their dogs and send them down to me.  

 

In addition to your suggestion about risk management, I think it's also optics.  More people will enter a business if they feel safe, and masks are the current item that is working in that respect.  Then again, just as I say that, I realize that businesses in northern Florida were doing just fine, and no masks were required over a month ago.  Not sure how that is going now.  But it sure would LOOK bad if one or two stores in an area were not requiring masks when other places were.

   Someone once told me for the regular surgical masks, it doesn't really matter which way you wear them, just don't switch once you put it on.

That's one of the reasons I like using homemade ones. Easy to ID which way to put it on, and very easy to wash and reuse. Don't forget about giving the face a good scrub with some moisturizing cleanser every day.

While true, and I have a newfound appreciation for doctors and such, try walking around outside for half an hour or more while wearing one.  Total game changer.
