You'll hopefully appreciate the effort if you make it through without harm. We all will.

Of course, no doubt we will all be psychologically traumatized from this sort of giant experiment, as a nation.

Now does anyone know anyone I can get some chicken from? I feel like I'm living through wartime rationing where I have to start mixing sawdust for flour. I'll trade you some car crash gifs. 😉

I think the national emergency declared on Friday afternoon, being followed by the weekend where stocks usually run low anyway and everyone is out shopping has just caused an over reaction. I would give it a few days. I bought meat at Walmart at 10:30 last night so they are stocking. They had bread back too. They even had TP back in stock but everyone was still buying 2.

I think people will get over the panic, but worse than stores being low on stock for a while is that people are running around to different stores and getting stuck in crowds, having to get a few things they need at every different store. Then we end up doing the one thing we don't want to be doing.

I feel like with the new order that is going to close all restaurants here, people will be going into more of a panic. Nobody does panicking like the nutty people here..  I know my pup would be content just to eat the huge pile of treats I got him all day long, but that does not make a meal. I have a small stock of his chicken dinners left on reserve.. but I can't even get chicken to feed my family, let alone him.

It might be worse where you are. There were still frozen things like salmon and chicken here, and they had a bunch of turkeys and sausage and stuff like that in the refrigerated section. It was completely empty on Friday so they must have restocked over the weekend.

I think it's best to go at off hours, either early or late. You might not get everything you need, but there are less crowds and you can grab some things that they have recently restocked.

We've stuck with avoiding the traffic, both in-store and people apparently waiting 30-90 minutes for a parking spot in the lots (#######?). Clearly these are going to hit those who decide to shop at the most popular times.

Thankfully this insiders membership we have at our grocery chain allows us not only free pickup but sometimes free delivery as well, although they've been noted to mark up the food prices of delivered items hoping people don't notice.

Another thing is, grocery chains tend to get stock either at night before closing, overnight, or early morning, meaning they get things to the floor by morning, which means for higher stock, opening time is the best time. Night is usually the worst for stock, unless you either get to a store that does night stocking with customers in the store (some do, but especially prominent in 24/7 and late hour stores). Afternoon and early evening winds up being the worst because you have lower stock and shoppers are in high volume which means Costco style sardine can packing in smaller spaces. So that's when we targeted morning pick-up times, avoiding that mess completely. Unfortunately people have decided to be idiots and try to park in the (very clearly marked) grocery pickup stalls, and as a result, the staff have had to be aggressive about ticketing and towing these people.

Doesn't hurt us overall as the things people are trying to raid the most (TP/soap) we generally always have bulk stock of anyways. Likewise, that we have bidets so if we ran out of TP we just wash our private parts anyways. Let the drones engage in the Black Friday chaos.

The only thing I could find was pork, which is kind of odd. It's like people suddenly think pork isn't edible. There was mostly cheap cuts of beef, but this is too harsh on this stomach and too difficult for an old guy with little teeth to chew.

I just checked some stock online at one store and it looks like there could be a *few* there. Husband was going to go after work, but they just called him into an emergency meeting again. All of the managers are kind of directionless and unsure of what to do. They need better direction from the governor if they should close or not.. but it's a matter of time.

We've tried at various times.. early in the morning and as late as possible. Nothing is open 24hrs anymore as it's just unsafe. Everything is shut by 10. Bread is also getting hard to find, but that's okay as I can make it myself.

Apparently it's not enough that Cuomo is acting as the de facto president. Must be a dent to his ego that his governors are acting more useful and presidential than himself.

Cuomo attacked Trump making political hay with this tragedy. Shocking!

You posting another Trump hit piece, not so much!

From my observation, no single demographic is hoarding TP. Seems to be almost everyone, with the exception of people who already had enough at home to begin with. The people who have small arsenals and/or cases of ammo at home are just as likely to be hoarding TP as the tree huggers ATM.  Unless they already had their TP hoard before hand.

Might be some sales down the road. For now it's good to have a stock of necessities at home. That doesn't mean going nuts though.

I saw a guy out at Walmart in the fast checkout just buying pie and ice cream. I can always tell who was prepared ahead of time, because they are not going crazy now.

One of my aunts -- my mom's youngest sister -- is a super tree-hugger and is posting lists of "natural things you can use instead of toilet tissue" on Facebook. All of them look terrifying and unsanitary and possibly not very soft.

Your left hand is all you truly need.  And soap/water afterwards, of course.

Shame that you just blindly react without even looking at what you're reacting to. Cuomo is reacting to an attack by Trump and during the press conference he gave (which I'm sure you've seen) he even complimented Trump and Pence, but it's Cuomo who's attacking and is making political hay with this tragedy?

I wasn't aware I was invading a safe space, apologies for that. A tweet isn't a hit piece though, it's literally two statements by two people. Perhaps if Trump would act like the president, preferably in a slightly competent way, then he wouldn't be so insecure about others stepping up to the plate and he might have chance not ending up in my grand children's history books as the worst president in the history of the United States.

If I'd had to venture a guess, I'd say it because the administration's propaganda arm Fox "News" pivoted and is thus giving permission to take measures. It's not a hoax or scam anymore according to them, like they've claimed not a week ago.

Hearing that San Francisco -  six Bay Area counties will be placed on a ''shelter in place'' order with no one being allowed out of their homes for three weeks.

Can also anyone confirm a story that the SoD and the deputy have been quarantined? Looks like a cluster inside the Pentagon.
