No I don't. Do you live in Georgia, or even in the South?  This subject is very close to my heart.  I also think outside the box and don't believe I hear from the media.  I do my own research, and have.  Why do you even care about this?  I'm telling you that I am here in the thick of it.

I'm going to stop myself from saying something that would cause me to violate the TOS.

I care about this because I am an American. I care about this because states do not exist in vacuums -- people travel from state to state and can bring the virus with them. If people do not take commonsense precautions and address the VERY REAL PROBLEM of a PANDEMIC in one part of the country it will spread, HAS spread to other parts.

I read the news and I read widely, I read critically. I question. I double check. I look for patterns. I read data from scientists and I read opinion pieces. I trust experts in their areas of expertise. I do not assume I know everything about everything. I live in Santa Monica and I know what happened here the other week with the rioting. It happened on my block! But I do not trust myself to know everything that happened here even though I was literally in the thick of it. I use what I read to inform what I experienced. Some of it I trust and some of it I do not.

Being skeptical is a good thing. Knowing the limits of your knowledge is also a good thing. Asking tough questions is a good thing. Holding people in positions of authority to account is a good thing. Hubris is not a good thing.

Thank you for setting me straight.  I really had no idea before you laid it all out there.

Hey Nature Boy, I've been worrying about you with the rising number of cases in Georgia. :( How are things there where you are?

The South was supposed to explode with cases by June, some here predicted.  And yet.... it hasn't.

Part of the reason for increased cases in all states is more testing on a regular basis.  The issue upon which to focus is not the cases, but the deaths.  The number of cases is almost insignificant now.

Also, GA hasn't really seen an uptick in cases, if you step away from what I can only assume is the MSM some use for their "news".

Two weeks ago: No surge since reopening -

Even the NYT, which claims things are on the rise, seem to disprove their headline with graphs.

I sure hope all those RA and Lupus patients get that same info.

Of course they get that info, and then they evaluate the effectiveness and potential side effects of the drug against the severity and progression of their disease symptoms. Even for a disease like Lupus where it is an effective treatment, people sometimes have to stop taking it. That happens with many medications.

No matter how well a medication works, appropriate use is still a relevant issue. Penicillin was the original wonder drug. Still useful today for several microorganisms that are still susceptible. However we don't prescribe it to treat a migraine. There are actual drugs that work for that.

Ga's had its  highest  7 day moving avg  762 cases per day on 22 Apr. The lowest 7 day moving avg was 519 on 9 May which is about 9 days after the   supposed quarantine ended

The current 7 day moving avg is 738 avg new cases per day. So we are up an avg 219 cases a day since the low and only 24 avg cases below  per day since the peak.

So saying cases are not up in Ga since the quarantine ended is not accurate

It's more promising than HCQ I guess. The weird thing is they have studied it in the past for treating cytokine storm syndromes. It's kind of strange nobody tried it earlier for Covid-19.

it would make sense a steroid would help as they suppress your immune system. but they can also have some wicked side effects. my wife has to take prednisone from time to time but she usually avoids it if she can

Had my first indoor dine in experience in 4 months today. Was pretty normal. Was just surprised only the cups were disposable, but no complaints here

Most important is to look at what kind of cases. Is it more/less asymptomatic? more/less severe? more/less deaths?

So it's ALMOST like being under the care of an physician is not only a good idea but required in order to take these drugs, eh?

Cases in our county are still going up. Not surprising at all. I am signed up for the email updates from the County- lately the updates have been every few days, this was the last one:

The number of positive COVID-19 tests in Dare County is 42. Since the last Dare County DHHS Update issued, Friday, June 12, 2020 there have been 10 new positive cases. The Dare County website has already been updated to reflect all of these cases.
Of these 10 cases, 5 are residents and 5 are non-residents. The 5 residents are symptomatic and recovering in home isolation. Four of the cases are connected and it is believed one individual acquired the virus by community spread and then spread the virus to 3 family members/close contacts. The other positive resident is not connected to the other 4 cases, however this case is also believed to be acquired through community spread as the source of how the virus was contracted could not be determined.
Of the 5 non-residents, 1 is symptomatic and the other 4 are asymptomatic. Three of the asymptomatic cases are connected. They shared a common household and acquired the virus through direct contact. The other two cases are not connected and it has been determined that one acquired the virus by direct contact outside of the area and the other likely acquired the virus by community spread when outside of Dare County. All 5 of the non-residents have returned to their County of primary residence and those cases have transferred to the respective counties.
There is no determined connection between the residents and the non-residents who recently tested positive. Contact tracing has been completed on 9 of the 10 cases and all direct contacts of those 9 cases have been notified. The 10th individual has been unwilling to cooperate with the contact tracers at this point. DHHS will continue to pursue measures to identify direct contacts associated with this case.
Direct contacts are those who the individual that tested positive identifies as being within 6 feet or less for 10 minutes or greater. If the individual identifies someone associated with a business or restaurant or other establishment as a direct contact but does not know the name or contact information of the individual, DHHS staff works with that place of business to identify the individual and obtain contact information. When contact tracing a non-resident, DHHS staff  identifies any contacts the individual had while they were in Dare County during their contagion window. All positive cases are monitored daily throughout their isolation period. When a non-resident leaves the county their case is transferred to their county of permanent residence.

Million dollar question- who is this 10th individual and WHY OH WHY would they refuse to cooperate?

Arizona, Texas, Florida again report record-high COVID-19 cases

https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/503588-arizona-texas-florida-again-report-record-high-covid-19-cases

Snipxxxxx

Governors in those states have largely attributed increases in cases to increases in testing, but public health experts note that the percentage of tests coming back positive is also increasing, a sign of a growing outbreak.

Hospitalizations are also increasing in both Arizona and Texas, another sign of an outbreak. Florida doesn't release information on daily hospitalizations.
