The Brits say that Dexamethasone might be the better bet for helping the sickest patients get through the virus. Wonder if that's going to make getting ahold of it harder, especially for Addisons patients that need it to survive. I used to give my old dog Dex shots all the time, but I know at some point there was an issue that made getting the drug very difficult and caused problems.

It's more promising than HCQ I guess. The weird thing is they have studied it in the past for treating cytokine storm syndromes. It's kind of strange nobody tried it earlier for Covid-19.

No rising cases in Georgia huh?

Quote

An increasing number of Georgians are getting infected by the coronavirus and ending up in the hospital as Gov. Brian Kemp continues to ease restrictions on gatherings and businesses.

Figures posted Tuesday show that Georgia has reported an average of 777 infections over the last 14 days, the highest level since April, when widespread transmission was at its peak and had led to a statewide lockdown. After falling, the number of infected people in a hospital has been rising for the past 10 days, reaching 875 on Tuesday.

The number of deaths statewide passed 2,500 on Tuesday, and the state continues to average about 30 deaths a day. If people continue to die at the same rate, that would put Georgia on pace for about 8,500 COVID-19 deaths by the end of the year. https://www.onlineathens.com/news/20200616/new-georgia-virus-cases-most-since-april-as-restrictions-eased

It can. Of course Tylenol is sold OTC and HCQ isn't and is required to be administered under a doctor's care after determining if you are the right patient for it (hopefully not having any critical heart issues that a lot of Americans have or that the 'Rona can cause) and RA/Lupus patients need bloodwork monitoring to ensure it isn't killing them. Of course you could also believe that Tylenol is a surefire cure for the 'Rona an pop it to your heart's content but if it doesn't actually work and the risks outweigh the benefits.... it might be a good idea that we focus on medications that show greater promise to a wider variety of cases.

It makes sense that Dex might help patients to calm down the cytokine storm the body creates in trying to fight the virus (and studies showed far better promise in patients and less risks), but even there you will have risks vs benefits, and it still did not help all patients, so the science needs more determination.

I don't know why you aren't seeing the news there in Georgia that we're seeing about the state out here. yuna quoted it above. I heard it on the radio on my local station.

Where are you hearing COVID19 is over in Georgia and there are no rising cases?

Are you discounting what doctors in hospitals are saying, what the state board of health is saying because... you exist in the state of Georgia and you are working there?

The cases are rising. Hospitalizations are rising. This is fact and we need to running on facts, not anecdotes right now.

No I don't. Do you live in Georgia, or even in the South?  This subject is very close to my heart.  I also think outside the box and don't believe I hear from the media.  I do my own research, and have.  Why do you even care about this?  I'm telling you that I am here in the thick of it.
