I have a confession... I kind of enjoyed how the swabbing felt. Alex said I was a pervert.

My daughter had the test Tuesday as she is having a sinus/nasal surgery tomorrow.  She said that although it didn't hurt it was a very strange feeling.  Sticking a swab in the nose as far back as itwill go.  She was negative.

Just learned that  the nursing home across the street from my office had 34 positive tests, and 12 deaths since April.  41 tests pending.  They are moving out the health people tomorrow.

Glad to hear she got a negative result. She's right -- it didn't hurt, it just felt very odd. I had heard it described as feeling like getting your brain picked, but it didn't feel like that at all. It was pleasurable to me while still be very uncomfortable.

Hope her surgery goes well tomorrow. :)

My rant for today.

Talked with my 87 y.o. mother last night.  She is in a retirement facility here that has independant living, assisted living, and memory care.  Mother is in independant living in her own apartment.  Among her friends are a couple, Alice and Tom, that go out a couple of times everyday.  Walmart (seems to be the place old folks like to go to for getting out) and the grocery store and anywhere else.  They never wear a mask.

Yesterday Alice (about 70 y.o) took Tom to the doctor as he is quite a bit older and having troubles walking and using his legs.  Dr told them his problem is largely age related.  After the appointment Alice comes to my mothers apartment and knocks and asks to come in so they can talk.  A little unusual as my mother rarely has guests in her apartment since she usually socializes at meals at the dining facility, but all residents have been restricted to eating their meals in their apartments due to COVID.   Alice comes in and sits down and complains about the Dr. visit.  Didn't like the diagnosis, but more importantly she was so upset that she was not allowed to enter the Dr.'s office because SHE HAD A HIGH FEVER!  She says this as she is sitting two feet away from my mother with no mask on.

How can some people be so stupid?  My mother is furious.  She asked mewhat she should do.  I really don't know.

Convey her feelings to her friend but without the anger, matter of fact, with compassion but convey the message yhat exposing her was selfish and not to be tolerated

She should quarantine herself for 14 days. If any symptoms develop talk to her Dr asap and the staff.  She can let them know how it was possibly transmitted.

So apparently I shook hands with an infected retail employee last week,  also have a "new" cough, and so was contacted by Alberta health and am forced to not leave our property for 10 days (minimum) unless its to go to a testing site, or until I have a test done and its negative. And as I type this up (while we're having a late lunch outside on the deck), I got a call scheduling me tonight for the same type of bulimia-like throat swab my (pregnant) wife got. On the bright side, because of coming into contact with an infected person and exhibiting a comically general symptom (that I get anyways around this time as I get seasonal allergies, which I tried telling them), I'm fast tracked. Also, I seriously doubt I have it.. if I did, it's the lamest coronavirus ever, and the worst I've got is an extremely minor cough.

Best of luck, my friend.  Good news is, you are free to go outside and mingle once again, as long as you smash a window or burn a police car.  Oh wait, those are US rules, not sure they apply in Canada...

These.  Should also let the staff know ASAP, so they can track the issue.

I think Canada does #BLM.

I got this bit of good news this morning:

JERI1vz.jpg

Alex got the same thing. We've been self-isolating for over a week now, so I guess this means we can go to the grocery again. :D He's completely better, I have a lingering low grade fever and sluggishness.

Edit to add: we're in the part of SM that has a curfew starting at 1pm, so I guess the grocery trip can wait until tomorrow. Going to binge-watch season 2 of Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce instead.
