1. Yet they have it better under control now than we do

2. Doesn't explain why he didn't appoint new people

3. Doesn't explain why you seem to be ok with mediocracy or the fact that his actions actively prevented our situation to be better

4. Not true, the US could've actually used the tests available to be able to better detect people who are carrying the virus and quarantine them

Just 4? I pegged you for a ride or die kinda guy.

Don't you know, there's always an excuse for every dumb thing the orange does. He has the most responsible job in the country but somehow his failures are not his responsibility. The cult is strong.

Out of thin air?

Making sure test kits are produced/supplied in a timely fashion is part of the appropriate response to a lingering pandemic. Somehow South Korea did it right and the US failed miserably.

it's called globalization.  the usa has shifted production of many things to other countries because it is cheaper that way....

The components shortage was with a German company, and they make it onshore in PA.

An issue but not the cause of delay. Now it becomes an issue as demand slopes up.

The cause of the delay was, 1. underestimated risk of the disease reaching American. 2.the decision to go it alone and not use the proven WHO pattern. 3. Lack of quality on the initial shipment.

Somebody declined to use the WHO test kits. That's not a production issue. It's a bad decision.

I suggest google. You are posting in a current events forum, and this is a current event. It's being covered everywhere, and has been discussed here for the last month. Some level of initiative is required on your part.

you made the assertion.  it's up to you to back it up.

We have posted links already. If you are late to the discussion, it's up to you to catch up. Or not. If I have to do everything for you, I'm just arguing with myself.

Incorrect.  It has been postulated, yet not backed up via sources that I have seen.  There has been no indication that "WHO test kits" were ever made available to the US.  Had they been, and had they been taken by us, how many tests in other countries would have not been able to have been completed?

On 6 Feb, The Who shipped 250,000 test to 159 countries.  How much would WE have diluted such a shipment?  Or put another way... how few test kits would the US have had had they taken any?

The WHO test kit was developed and mass produced in Germany. There was no issue with scale of production. The kit was never approved by the FDA for use in the USA without additional testing, nor was the FDA willing to waive that requirement. The only alternative the FDA gave was for US labs to make their own kit, which some labs have done.

As of today, the national emergency declaration would allow labs to use the WHO test kit without FDA approval.
