The two assertions are not necessarily mutually exclusive, except for the term "fair". Like I wrote earlier, with a very neutral tone, data seems to suggest that 5-year LPR cases are processed slightly faster than 3-year LPR marriage-based cases. And the reason might be purely practical.

Cases are indeed processed in the order they are received, but a 3-year LPR case might require more examination (and sometimes RFE etc...). If this should happen, I presume the Case Officer will not just sit there idle, and will move, in the meantime, to the next. If that one is a 5-year LPR case that is very "vanilla" (no criminal records etc...), that case will probably move faster.

In the end, and overall, this might explain why the 5-year LPR cases move faster to completion, regardless of it being fair or not.

Interesting thread, I think recent data points to 3 year cases being processed much faster. Those who have pending I-751s or had one approved in the past seem to getting interviews ahead of those who filed based on a 5 year timeline.

Regardless of the 3 or 5 year rule, the single biggest factor affecting processing times is just the local office. Some local offices are much speedier than others. It's sort of just random luck if your local office is a slow or a fast one.

This is definitely true.

I read predictions of it being a year or so. I applied in Feb and became a citizen at end of July. The predicted date within my USCIS account said July from the start, it vanished for a while then reappeared still saying July. It turned out to be accurate, despite the pandemic appearing after I'd applied. Raleigh/Durham seems to have a relatively short wait time.

I feel sorry for those having to wait longer, but from my point of view the many months I waited in the k1 quagmire at Texas back in 2014/15 were the worst since we were apart from each other. During the wait for citizenship I had my GC and was living with my wife etc - citizenship feels good, but my day to day life isn't much different. I really feel for those embarking on their visa journey right now with the pandemic and its problems, I can't imagine what they are going to have to go through and how long its going to take.

Hello All,

My estimated case completion used to say June 2020. A couple days ago a did the biometrics, and then got a message on my profile that they have reviewed my biometrics.

At the same time, the estimated case completion is now gone completely.

Is this normal? Has anyone else seen this?

TIA

It's back for me too, 4 more months , my interview was supposed to be April 15 :(

Did you get any notice for biometrics or appointment yet? I submitted mine in June and the estimated case completion is same as yours.

Have you called the uscis number?? To ask about ur application status

I have not because their contact page says the case status page would give the same information as speaking to them. So I dont want to bother waiting a long time for someone to pickup the call and not give valuable information.

Hi VJ-ers:

Has the Estimated Case Completion Time officially come back for everyone?

I noticed it was back for me when I logged on to my account.
