Interesting, the stuff we have at work is 80% EtOH, and the stuff I have at home is 70%.

The big containers at Walmart are going for $2.50 if they have it at all. Which is crazy because a couple months back they were going for about $1.50 at most

I personally haven't seen how things are in the stores but wife has said they're emptied out. We just do grocery pickup a few times a month and the once-a-month bulk Costco run so we've been good at avoiding going into stores. And regardless, we already had like several months worth of TP (two 48 packs in the laundry room, one 48 pack in the upstairs closet), like 4 bottles of hand soap in main floor closet, 2 or 3 in second floor, and this was like from January, mainly to avoid having to go out during cold winter months. I have a preference for those swash bidets, I wonder if all this TP nonsense might compel people to start figuring out that these are actually pretty nice to use.

No, the active ingredient is 70% alcohol.  But it's watered down with the gel/water, etc.  I haven't seen a bottle that tells what the actual residual percentage of alcohol truly is.

It’s 70% after it’s water down with gel/water, etc. that’s what the % in the label means. It’s not like they pour some 70%alcohol and fill up the bottle with gel/water, etc.

Ok, I had to look again.  My bottle says 70% v/v ethyl alcohol, so it is 70% alcohol, and 30% inactive ingredients.  If the active ingredient were Ethyl alcohol, 70%, then it would be a lower percentage of alcohol.  So you are right, as long as it says v/v (percent volume per volume).  Thanks for making me look it up!

Interesting... it appears that coronaviruses are killed with ethanol around 43%.  Good news!  http://www.fha.org/files/JohnW/EM/Ethanol-hand-sanitizer-and-HAV.pdf
