Does one count as a permanent resident with the immigrant visa at hand? I'm through with everything (EB21 category) and also got my passport with the visa back. Not sure if I could travel to "activate" my green card though. Anyone got an idea?

Is there a possibility that an approved k-1 visa will be extended  due to: special circumstances --> corona virus travel ban? According to the link down below? If or example the travel ban will continue several months.

https://www.uscis.gov/humanitarian/special-situations

USCIS does not issue or extend visas. That link applies to conditions for people already in the US.

Unless the FAM is updated, an extension of a K-1 is not possible. A K-1 being reissued is possible, although typically with a new medical as validity period of the K-1 is tied to the medical exam validity period.

Anything can change in the coming weeks or months (or longer), but until they do, that's the way it is.

An immigrant visa holder is not a permanent resident until they enter on the visa.

My parents hosted an exchange student from Spain last year. At the end of January she told me she had flights for spring break and wanted me to help her surprise them. She called me this morning, not upset but frustrated, saying that she can't come now.

Two weeks away to flight out after a very very long year and this is happening. Following to gather more information and see if K1 visa holder are considered immediate relatives (even if i don't think we are, i still hope!).

Unfortunately, I don’t think you will find anywhere showing a K1 visa holder being considered an immediate relative.

Yeah i know... It is pretty clear K1 holders are not an exception, just some naive hope from me! Seeing the finish line but not being able to cross it is so frustrating but it is life!

Waiting to know more details about what will happen over the next few months!

Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

My wife's CR-1 visa was issued in May 2017.  She entered the US on 6/23/2017.  Her Green card says she became a legal resident on 6/23/2017.  @geowrian stated fact, not opinion.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I'm going to plan my interview as far into the future as I can. I really doubt we'll be through Covid in a month, so I have a strong feeling that this ban is going to get extended. If I get my P3 next month, I feel like the six months I get to enter will be necessary for flights to start up again. I guess I could just have a two week vacation somewhere else and then enter, but at that point I'm just throwing away part of my budget.

There's just no way that they're going to allow flights into the US again in a month, we're not even at the peak of this thing yet.
