According to section 2 of the proclamation, spouses of USCs and LPRs are exempt:

Someone is hoping to check with the embassy in London on Monday as to how one demonstrates to airport check in staff that one is married to a USC.

Great! I am having my wedding certificate FedEx’s over because I was wondering this myself!

Hi,

Wondering if anyone by chance may have information on the below.

I am a UK citizen currently in London, UK. My wife is an American citizen currently in San Antonio, Texas.

The U.S. has just included the UK as part of the travel ban inbound to the US - effective 16 March 2020.

I have an outbound flight from London, UK on 26 March 2020 and I wondered if I was exempt from this as a spouse of an American citizen?

Many thanks,

Good evening,

I am very similar - I’m UK citizen in London and due to visit my husband (American citizen in LA), flying Saturday 28th March.

I aware that souses of US citizens are exempt. Phoning the embassy tomorrow to try and get some clarification. Also, wondering how we ‘prove’ who we are to check in staff.

I tried to phone my airline today but couldn’t get through. Did you have any luck? Would be grateful if we could keep one another up to date! Thank you!

I’m in the same position. I spoke to BA today and they didn’t know what documentation is needed! It looks like the relevant information hasn’t been passed along the chain yet. I am having my marriage certificate FedEx’d over in case.

I’m flying BA too. I have my marriage certificate already. Will do my best to get an answer from the embassy tomorrow for us all. When do you fly?

@AndrewUK looking at your timeline, I assume you already have a green card thus you should be absolutely fine with no worries or marriage certificate needed?

I am married but still in the process of getting a green card approved (nothing approved or close to yet) so will definitely need some sort of proof!

I don’t have my green yet either. I’m in the UK on advance parole. I’m due to fly to LAX in two weeks. Looking forward to hearing what you discover

Hi both,

It would be great if we could share with eachother to help clarify a few things!

I will bring my marriage certificate for sure, contact number, address in the U.S. etc. - I would say the marriage certificate is key.

I will also try and call the U.S. Embassy tomorrow to clarify:

1) Will spouses definitely be permitted to fly?

2) My flight is landing in Austin, Texas - will I be able to still fly there and then be re-directed to one of the "approved" airports or will I not be able to land in Austin at all?

3) Anything else needed besides a marriage certificate?

If you guys know the answers to any of those, that would of great help.

Thank you - I will keep this page open.

Consider flying out of Dublin as it is a preclearance for US CBP and you will be clearing US immigration there rather than at the end of your flight   May be more possible to get through check in there as the airline staff can speak with CBP onsite.

I'm due to fly out on 26 March.

My airline is Norwegian Air - waiting in the queue right now. It's been busy all day.

Thanks for the link.

It seems, that once flying out from London, the check-in staff will discuss an alternative landing destination - is that your understanding, too?

I wonder if any additional costs are involved.
