A federal judge leveled harsh accusations against Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts and the rest of the conservative majority, claiming that they are “actively participating in undermining American democracy.”

Judge Lynn Adelman of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin blasted the Roberts-led court in an article titled “The Roberts Court’s Assault on Democracy,” set to be published in the Harvard Law & Policy Review.

“[T]he Roberts Court has been anything but passive,” wrote Adelman, who was appointed to the bench by President Bill Clinton. “Rather, the Court’s hard-right majority is actively participating in undermining American democracy. Indeed, the Roberts Court has contributed to ensuring that the political system in the United States pays little attention to ordinary Americans and responds only to the wishes of a relatively small number of powerful corporations and individuals.”

Adelman pointed to two particular types of cases. First were those dealing with what he called “direct assaults on democracy such as cases that affect voting rights.” He said some cases have hurt minorities by weakening the Voting Rights Act. In a recent case, the court refused to intervene in partisan gerrymandering.

The second type of case Adelman described was where he said the court “increased the economic and political power of corporations and wealthy individuals and reduced that of ordinary Americans and entities which represent them.” These included Citizens United, which said that corporations enjoy free speech protections that allow them to spend large sums in connection with elections. Adelman said that this decision “weaponized the First Amendment.”

I think it's really worth a read, watching a sitting federal judge attack SCOTUS and the Chief Justice and go on a 34 page diatribe about Presidents and Congress implementing policies they disagree with, and judges and SCOTUS justices ruling in a way they don't like, ignoring all the success the things they do agree with have had. The entitled can't have their way 99% of the time, it's gotta be 100%, or else it's awful and foundations of the Republic need to be blown apart.

Thus the nation has been in decline for 50 years, thanks primarily to the Chief Justice who's been there for 15. The icing on the cake was going after the First Amendment. Can sit that next to outoging John Paul Stevens saying we need to rid of the second amendment. When trying to get rid of non-negotiable freedoms is all one is left with, you know you're dealing with some mighty deranged people, and I think some of it has to do with the orange astringent known as Trump. He's had a knack of squeezing toxic people in the government, who got used to running the country behind closed doors with impunity, to the surface.

Well, some of these Fed judges are the Peter Principle personified.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I'd be careful because in some ways that presumes good intent. There's this self perpetuating desire in the world of politics (I especially see this in people like Ben Shapiro) to employ Hanlon's razor, where people presume ignorance, incompetence, or general doltishness, saving malice for the most extreme, except that extreme is now mainstreamed.  While this movement and its underpinnings seems like it arrived at the snap of a finger as a knee-jerk response to Trump, it's clear these are in fact malicious actors who are very much aware of what they're doing. It's in this deranged moments that they surface to reveal their long term goals, and the fact that all the work they've been doing over the years to undermine the US is collapsing. These are people that know what logic is, are logical people, and while they are indeed upset and behaving in a momentarily irrational outburst, what they're doing isn't a mere sign of derangement, they're revealing the way they've been poisoning institutions, and these people feel so entitled they have no way of winning over minds, so their only response to any adversity against their scheming is throwing tantrums like this. That's the Trump astringent working its magic. All these bad actors who generally try and poison the country from behind closed doors are coming out of the woodwork, seeing all that hard work of theirs over the decades ruining the US being undermined.

Ben Shapiro

He always sounds like he's auditioning for Auctioneer school.  Like Speedy Gonzalez on a caffeine high.
