Expired US passport

Can I use my expired us passport to file for adjustment of status for my spouse? I can not renew my passport because am in probation. I do not have a us citizenship certificate or naturalization certificate because I was not born in the states but I received citizenship automatically after my parents were naturalized when I was seven years old.

In our case the expired passport was not accepted to establish citizenship. Birth certificate without parents isn't accepted either (doesn't apply to you but still).  

 

In your case you're either going to need a new passport or a certificate of naturalisation, you can request the latter from USCIS but they're not cheap I believe.
