Hi guys, my wife (GC holder) and I (USC sponsor) moved August 2019 and I only filed the AR 11 in November 2019. And now I found out that as a sponsor, I also need to do the I-865 to inform USCIS of the change.

In the "effective date of change address" on the I-865, do I put:

1. The actual date that we moved

2. Today's date

3. When AR 11 is filed back in November 2019

Thanks guys.

It probably should match the date your wife used. Otherwise it might come up one day when USCIS says that you haven't lived together for a while and therefore they question your marriage.

This is what I'm afraid of. On the AR-11, there is no "effective date of new address" and so in that case I'm guessing USCIS will take notice of when it was filed which, in my case, was November 2019.

If I used the actual date that we moved on I 865, they could view it as I didn't live with my wife for 3 months (moved date: August 19, AR filed date: November 19)

And if I used today's date, they could also view it as we didn't live together for 5 months (AR filed date: Nov 19, today is March 2020).

Is it too much thinking or I should just put the actual date that we moved (as arken mentioned) because USCIS doesn't really scrutinize this kind of thing?

You are thinking too much. They want you to file i865 so that they can reach out to you in a probably never happened case to recuperate expenses in case one of your sponsored person use the benefits.

They won’t be looking at your change of address thing for anything else.

Just use whichever you like and you’ll be fine.

They seem way to disorganized and overwhelmed to dig into that kind of thing.  Definitely best to do the paperwork when you should, but it gets complicated when moves happen.

I-865 is enough by itself. Remember change of address with USCIS is just to report it or notify them of your move.
