Hello All,  I am planning to apply for citizenship once am eligible which is almost in a month time, though our I751 not yet approved, hoping that will speed up the process once I submit my N400, what are your thoughts on this?

Also I will apply online any idea on how early I can start my application  saving, collecting evidence and reviewing it before i submit it on the day that my window opens for submission?

TIA

There is some talk on Citizenship which I am wanting to do! But I have a little dilemma... my British passport is still in my maiden name. Does this have any impact on the application? I was looking to update my passport but with Covid the wait time is longer and I may get called for my interview at any point... it’s suck a risk. Does anyone have any insight or advice?

Just go with what you have currently and complete the application. You can get an affidavit made which says the different names you have are one and the same person.

You can start collecting all the evidence now and get the files ready. I am guessing you have to complete the application in 30 days when you start it

Thank you, I just checked and the site  will not allow me to start my application at this moment, I think only one month before my eligibility date.

Get the evidence ready in the meanwhile and once eligible you can start uploading and complete the application quickly.

I read somewhere that having different names can impact the process. It’s literally so stupid haha well I’m so stupid for leaving it so long! Passports are expensive as it is ffs! Can’t wait for all of this to be done with!

It shouldn't as I had some issues too but the affidavit does help.

What issues did you have? I did create a topic and got some feedback that they don’t really look at your passport. I think I’m going to send off my passport first- get my name changed and then start the N-400. In the mean time start collecting evidence. By then it should be back in my hands before the window opens for me to apply!

How much evidence would you suggest uploading for the online N400 application? If I'm naturalizing under the 3-year PR marriage through a citizen rule, would you suggest uploading all the marriage/living in marital union evidence (lease, tax transcripts, etc.)?

August 2017 - June 2018 AoS

April 2020 - January 2021 RoC

Jan 2022 - September 2022 Citizenship

I will just be uploading docs from Jan 2020 as previous set was already submitted via I751.

Submitting the following - bank statements, mortgage, auto & home insurance, utilities bills and photos. Be mindful that when you upload online they have limits to your document size. My documents are good to go and will start working on the N400 application next week

Minor issues - when I opened a bank account or get my driver's license changed

I sent my passport off last week and it just got the HM Passport office so now I wait for that. In the meantime I’m starting to collect all of these things too. Unfortunately I do not own my own place and we are currently living out of my husbands parents house. I guess we will be submitting that information instead. But thanks for a list of ideas! So ready for this to be done with 😫
