Embassy Interview THIS WEEK!!

Hi All,

Please be kind, I'm very anxious about my interview and my move. I'm a worrier by nature!

I haven't posted in a long time, our CR1 application suffered horrendous delays due to an IRS issue for my husband (he worked outside the US, on and off, for nearly two years, really messed things up), we had to wait an additional 12 months for the IRS to give my husband his paperwork so we could file his earnings.

So I had my medical on Friday (6th March) and have my Embassy trip this Friday (13th unlucky for some!).

I'm a bag of nerves, so I need some advice:

- How long before the interview should I arrive? I'm going to London US Embassy. I want to clarify

- Should I take minimal luggage? I'm arriving the day before, I plan to ask my hotel to hold my case :), can I take a magazine whilst I wait?

- Experiences - how long did it take to get your green card? I have a wedding in June in the UK, we want to plan so we can attend this, it's my oldest friend.

- Am I authorised to work from the day I arrive or do I wait for my Green Card? I'm happy with the additional time off ;)

- Any other advice?

Read London interview experiences here https://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=United+Kingdom&cty=&dfilter=5&topic=IR-1%2FCR-1+Visa

London provides instructions on what you can bring inside https://uk.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/16/IVK-preparingforyourappointment.pdf

When you enter the US, your passport will be marked to indicate you are a permanent resident. Some call it an I-551 stamp. You are authorized to work or travel immediately.  If you don’t have the plastic greencard yet, that stamp in your passport is your proof of being a US permanent resident (greencard holder). It will allow you to travel to the UK and back in June so no worries there about how long to get the physical card in the mail.
