Sanders: 'I never expected in my life, as an American, to see a swastika at a major political rally

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said Sunday he "never expected" to see a swastika at a major political rally, after a man was removed from one of his events in Phoenix for displaying a flag with the Nazi symbol.

"The idea that there was a swastika, a symbol of everything that this country stands against ... is unspeakable," Sanders said on CNN's "State of the Union," adding that around 400,000 Americans died "fighting that symbol, fighting Nazism." 

"I never expected in my life, as an American, to see a swastika at a major political rally. It's horrible," Sanders added. 

Sanders has the chance to be the first Jewish presidential nominee of a major party.

  Disgusting. The guy who did it is a white supremacist and self described nazi. He specifically targeted someone of Jewish faith. Sad to see people making light of the situation rather than condemning it. 

 

  Personally I am sad that we reached the point where people like this feel comfortable coming out of the shadows, but I am not ever surprised that they are out there. They have always been there, but they used to be cognizant of the fact that their behavior is abominable and unacceptable.

Swastika?  No. Sauwastika.  It appears the man with the flag is confused as to what he stands for, maybe?  More stupid stupidity.  Glad they removed him.

It is disgusting, but I thought Bernie was religiously unaffiliated.  Now of course that doesn’t make this right, but I would rather these nut cases be in plain view than hidden in the shadows.

   Personally I would rather have people come out and say things to my face, but as a society, I don't want to see it where people tolerate or accept this kind of behavior, or just look the other way.

   I suppose two wrongs don't make a right, but I can understand why people might feel like doing that. 

 

  I would rather people just show some respect at political rallies and find a different venue for the BS.
