Waiting for K1 visa from Sydney Consulate

Hello everyone,

I attended my K1 interview in Sydney on 25th February. It went smoothly and I was told by the interviewer that he was recommending our case for approval.

I was just interested to hear from anyone else who's been interviewed recently in Sydney in regard to getting your passport back. The reason being I read a recent review of the Sydney Consulate by a member who was interviewed a week after me and received their passport back 2 days later!

My CEAC status still says "Ready... Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section" 😬

Should I be concerened, or am I being not patient enough and overly anxious? 😁

Not "patient enough and overly anxious" is correct. Each embassy, each case, each person and each day is different. Comparing to others only brings on "why not me" syndrome that we see around here more than I'd like to say.

Their is some housekeeping that needs to be attended to by the CO and yours is just taking a little longer. Stay calm and DON'T buy non-refundable tickets till you are holding the passport with the visa in your hands and that you have gone over them for errors.

Thank you @Greenbaum, that's just what I needed to hear. Flights are booked but I booked flexible fares so all is good. 🙂

Just following up on my own post.

Is it usual/possible to be asked for further information AFTER the Consulate interview and being "recommended for approval" at the interview?

My fiancé (petitioner) phoned up the NVC today (he's also a little anxious! 😬). He was told that "additional information is required" but as I understand is normal with RFE they couldn't tell him what. My status on CEAC is still "Ready" (for interview).

Thanks :)

Q1. Yes that's normal.

Q2. NVC has nothing to do with your RFE. You are still dealing with USCIS at this stage. CEAC will remain ready till after the interview and will begin updating after the interview.
