I'm a USC and my wife is a GC holder and we are planning to apply for her naturalization very soon here. However before any of that, the topic of false claim to citizenship really scares me. Please allow me to state some facts:

- I-9 *** She's had three jobs that require I-9 forms, we checked all three and all three are good.

- Voter registration *** Checked, she's not registered to vote.

- Driver licenses *** Checked, she never claimed to be USC on those applications

- We live with my family and so no mortgages, home loans or anything like that and so there's no risk of false claim there

- FAFSA *** She did try to apply for FAFSA but the application was too long and complicated that she gave up mid-way because she didn't know what to put. So

- Bank accounts *** She had three bank accounts (all are closed now) and she used her visa, passport to open them.

We have been brainstorming like crazy for many days/weeks now on anything else that she could have claimed to be USC and simply she has no recollection of it whatsoever.

What do you guys think of her chances to have the N-400 approved? Was there ANYTHING else that we need to go back and look to check for potential false claim?

I think you are giving this more thought than most. It doesn't look like you have anything to worry about. The fact that you are stressing so much about making sure suggests you probably haven't misrepresented yourselves in any way.

I say go for it.  Fill out the application.  Make sure that you pay close attention to the filing requirements based on marriage if you are going with the three year rule - don't file too early and give a day or two after your 90 day window if you are taking advantage of early filing.  Wishing you the best. I don't see anything to worry about. Just answer the questions honestly on the application, submit the supporting evidence as required and wait for your interview :)

Thank you for your words.

Yeah I constantly have "what if" thoughts in my head. I've been stressing out for like a month now and there is no evidence (or memories) that my wife has falsely claimed to be a USC. At least not yet (you see?)

The recent fear of false claim of citizenship or misrepresentation rivals the coronavirus pandemic levels. :D

I do like the little green checkboxes in the first post!

Hi,

Where can you check your vote registration status? I guess I'm too paranoid, but when I googled it I was afraid to even enter my name in a fear of getting accidentally registered instead of just checking my status...

Thanks!
