Tax return for interview

I'm now preparing all the documents I need for my interview. But I have a bit of a confusion as to what to show for my petitioner's and joint sponsor's tax returns.

So backstory is, NVC immediately approved both petitioner and js 2016 and 2017 federal tax returns from the tax preparer BUT rejected 2018 due to "multiple documents uploaded into one etc". So what we uploaded for the 2018 was from the IRS site and not from the tax preparer (we discovered the site late) which they now accepted. Then NVC again asked for the W2 of my js. So we gave the one from the irs site.

So my question is, should I present the 2016, 2017 tax return by the tax preparer and 2018 from irs site? Or can I just give the 2016, 2017 tax returns from the IRS site?

Thank you! 😊

For the interview the embassy wants to see your most recent tax transcript and I-864  (not multiple years)

Gather all documents as listed in the DOCUMENT CHECKLIST  (STEP 5).  You may have provided these documents during the NVC processing but are still required, once more, for the interview process.

additional note:   In the embassy documents checklist (step 5) it lists the "CENOMAR (if applicable)" for those that are married the embassy will want the CEMAR (Advisory of Marriage, form 5) ... not having the CEMAR for the interview will cause delays and a 221g document request letter.

You mean even if I uploaded all three, they would only ask for tge most recent one in the interview itself?

Oh and Hank, do you think I should print photos of me with my joint sponsor too? She is my aunt. Thanks

No need of photos with your aunt.

And yes the embassy only wants your most recent tax return/transcript. (currently 2018)

Considering that April 15th is almost 1 month away, I would think they would want 2019, no?

Can't require a tax return that isn't required to even exist until after 15 April.
