I know the 60 day temp immigration ban is coming due (I think it started around April 23rd).

I also know Trump may extend it. What I don't know is which visa types were actually banned. I know greencard applicants and temp work visas were but I read in an article for family green cards applicants its only Greencard holders bringing in family but American citizens can still bring in family.

I really want to know for sure if our visa type (F3) is one that was banned. We were 5 days away from our interview when it was canceled due to the pandemic.

Anyone have an article Link that lists the specific visa types that were affected by the temporary ban? I can't find one.

check this out.

Routine visas services have been suspended at U.S. posts worldwide, but as resources allow, embassies and consulates will continue to provide emergency and mission critical visa services.  Mission-critical immigrant visa categories may include applicants who may be eligible for an exception under this presidential proclamation, such as: IR/CR1, IR/CR2, IR/IH-3, IR/IH-4, SQ, SI, and certain employment-based medical professionals, as well as cases involving an applicant who may age out.  While embassies and consulates may process these types of cases, their ability to do so may be limited by local government restrictions and available resources.  In addition, an applicant’s ability to travel may be impacted by local laws, regulations, and travel restrictions

Thank you! So reading this it sounds like we are one of the banned visa types?  F3 is adult children of US citizens.

Regarding Trumps immigration ban. I know he extended it to the end of December. All I read is it affects work related visas? Does it still include family greencards? I am an F3 category (adult children of US citizens) I want to know if we're included in the ban. I can't find a direct answer anywhere.

Also does it affect people that got right up to having an interview appointment?  We were 5 days away from our interview in Montreal Canada when it was canceled. I want to know if when the consulates open if they'll still interview us because we're far enough through and because we already have a visa issued to us or not. I'm really so confused at what state we're at.

I would hope the consulate would tell us if we were part of the ban with how far in the process we are but we have no info.

Yes, it extended the original EO as well as adding work visas, so family green cards are still affected. Unfortunately having had an interview scheduled is not enough to avoid being affected by it, you would have already had to have had the visa in hand in order to be exempt.

I'm sorry you're caught up in this, I know it's been a really long journey for you :(

I am about to fill up the form to renew my passport. I will tick the box that has my current one return.

However, it seems they aren't doing passport services right now except for emergency cases until July 31st. That would be concerning if they extended the time, especially with the latest buzz of August 14th being the date they start resuming interviews for fiancee visas.

My passport will only meet the six-month threshold until mid-September. After that, no luck...

1. At my interview, if I bring both passports, will it be all ok? I would bring the one I have now for authentication purposes, with the new one there for the viability. Will this be a concern for them?

2. Anyone else has an experience of renewing a passport during this situation? What was it like?

1) yes. People renew or change passports all the time.

2) not an issue tbh.

I had to renew my children's passports before our interview and did the same asked for the old ones back just in case to bring. But our interview was canceled 5 days before we were to have it cause of the pandemic so I can't tell you how that went.

This was posted on the Montreal consulate fb page today. Pretty sure I know the answer but when they say "children of US citizens" does this only include young children? We had an appt in March canceled but we are adult children of US citizens which I believe are part of the current immigration ban. I am wondering if you think that means ours will not be rescheduled yet or if perhaps we might be rescheduled?

Hello,

we can always guess, but only they will have the correct answer for you question. I highly recommend writing them an email soon, as usually they take some time to answer their emails.

Yes I'll send one. They never give me any information though. They always just say we'll contact you with information when the time comes.
