   Apparently there is speculation on certain Chinese media sites suggesting this virus is a biological weapon unleashed by the US military and aimed specifically at attacking China and that it was released by US military personnel in Wuhan.   I think it reflects that there is a level of suspicion and distrust between the 2 countries, and certainly that has not helped facilitate having some of the necessary information available in a timely fashion. I know China did not allow the CDC into Wuhan during the initial period.

Can you not see the negative impact already due to the MSM mass hysteria?  Businesses are being damaged, people's lives ruined by all the BS.  Whether the source is a bat or a lab, the damage is the same.

Well you know way back when we tended to burn people in their homes or on a pyre or exile them out of countries and all sorts of things when we had mass hysterias about plagues. We didn't have media really back then. Hysteria is unavoidable, it really is. It's another human nature thing. But hysteria or not we should be taking this seriously. Businesses will be damaged, stocks will fall, supply is and will be disrupted further, deaths will happen, and lives will be different for a while. Actions and lack of actions all have consequences. Saw some numbers from the Hospital Association this morning.. very troubling.

  I've heard people talk about this being a good time to buy a house because interest rates have dropped. My answer has been that my first priority right now is staying healthy and trying not to get sick. Houses will always be there. Health will not.

This virus is neither the end times or a mild flu. Facts and reliable data are needed to help people.

Actually, I have posted facts as well, I have said since the beginning there is nothing to panic about.  And I have posted Dr. Drew videos to help calm the masses.  And so far this year, the flu combined with CV is still like a moderate flu season, nothing more.  Can it get bigger?  Sure.  And probably will.  But at the end of the day, the mortality rate is likely much smaller than claimed online now (heck, even in China, the mortality rate is 2-4% in Wuhan, yet only 0.7% in the rest of China.  Wonder why that is?)

 

The theory that this virus is engineered is not yet proven to be bogus.  There is a 50/50 chance between naturally occurring and engineered.  I'm not saying it IS engineered, just that the likelihood exists. (And even if it is engineered, the release could have been accidental)  These things have been going on for a lot longer than all of us have been alive, and will continue forever, most likely.  If you prefer to stick your head in the sand as to the origins, that is fine, it won't change your chances on contracting the disease.

17 US deaths thus far from covid-19.  15 seem to be from WA, which I think was ground zero here in the US.and 2 in FL.  Not sure where the 17th victim is from.

 

NY appears to be blooming, and the first case in DC.  The cruise ship in CA is supposed to dock tomorrow, that will be interesting.

   As I posted a few times, mortality rate data is notoriously unreliable and volatile in the early part of an emerging pathogen. The US was showing a 7% mortality rate last I checked. Mostly that is because of the exposure of a large number of elderly people initially and also because a high number of asymptomatic carriers have been missed/not tested.

 

  South Korea was showing a ~ 0.7% mortality rate, and Iran's has dropped from 11% initially down to less than 2% since they increased testing. The best guess is that <1% is probably more accurate. That number also doesn't reflect how extremely skewed the mortality rate seems to be by increasing age. For people less than 40 with no health conditions, the death rate data is showing <0.2% right now, whereas it is almost 15% for people over 80.
