Why people will post dreck from fringe sites and yet poopoo information coming from scientists and public health professionals, I don't know.

So you don't think that the Wuhan military lab was experimenting with viruses?  Reckon what its purpose is then?

 

I suppose you think the hotel collapsing in China is just a coincidence as well?

Scientists ‘strongly condemn’ rumors and conspiracy theories about origin of coronavirus outbreak

A group of 27 prominent public health scientists from outside China is pushing back against a steady stream of stories and even a scientific paper suggesting a laboratory in Wuhan, China, may be the origin of the outbreak of COVID-19. “The rapid, open, and transparent sharing of data on this outbreak is now being threatened by rumours and misinformation around its origins,” the scientists, from nine countries, write in a statement published online by The Lancet yesterday.

For it to be a conspiracy theory there would need to be a known and proven cause of the outbreak. I did not think there was one, just theories.

How is ANY of the information harmful?  As long as the outbreak is being contained and people treated, that is pretty normal IMO.  At this point, it doesn't really matter what the source was, it's all over the world.

Look at any given time across the globe there will be a series of events, and someone will cry and say ''look conspiracy!"

 

Correlation is not causation. It is human nature to look for patterns in seemingly insignificant and unrelated events and merge them to be related. Coming out of fundamentalist religion, conspiracy and unwarranted assumptions between points were always made as a foundational basis for some greater global cabal of X person trying to do bad things, take over the world, cause harm, or start the 'end times'. They are doing it right now. There is a bio lab in Wuhan yes. There are bio labs everywhere. But there is no evidence that anything happened there. There is no evidence found by scientists that do this sort of thing for a living, instead of trying to put together patterns between unrelated conspiracy dots online, that the bio lab had anything to do with it any more than the Wuhan lab getting sucked into a wormhole going back to the past and causing The Plague. If there is legit evidence found, I'm all ears, but until then I can't take it seriously.

 

Why is a bio lab more plausible than a highly evolved virus coming from a highly evolved species making a jump into humans because of their stupidity which is how the majority of most diseases/plagues have begun from the ages? Why does the Hollywood style conspiracy always sound more truthful?

 

What I care about is that our elected officials are handling this in an appropriate manner. Right now? I'm not quite seeing that.

I am a firm believer in looking at the obvious answer first, but yes it may be coincidental, maybe a totally natural event

We have dealt with that, I assumed it originated in wildlife. Seems logical.

Hogwash.  Doesn't matter if the virus came from the ocean, outer space, a lab, or a pangolin.  As long as everyone involved does their part to slow the spread and overcome the virus, there is no more fear from one source vs. another.  The fear is caused by the media, period.
