It is definitely the husband debts and liabilities, I do not think you should include yours as it say "your debts, liabilities and bankruptcies". I am also completing the I-944 and as some, I came here with an F1 visa so student with no income. For the SSN, it is really easy, go to https://www.transunion.com/article/3-free-credit-reports and send them by mail, not online (I did not have a SSN when searching my credit score, even though I did not have one). Send them a form through mail and you will receive statements that says "unable to locate your credit score" "no credit score available" and this is what you need for I-944. The advantage of going through Transunion is that you will get report from all 3 companies. This is free ! Hopefully it helps, good luck, we're all in the same boat lol

I just send in my package in march. With the I-944 I was talking about my debts and liabilities since they ask for the households assets. Hence they have the I864 which is about my sponsor, my husband. I have received a RFE but that was only because I didn't add all the papers from the IRS of my husband. I just sent in what I added to my K1 visa interview package. We have all the info on hand so we will send it back today after receiving this letter on Wednesday lol.

I saw they needed more info and I thought it was about my credit score but it wasn't, I called Transunion and they are sending me a statement saying I have no credit score or history here. This new form, I believe is used for all immigration so not just for K1 petitioners, I believe it is possible for people to still have debts in their home country or perhaps even here.

Since I didn't get any questions about the I-944 I would assume I did it correctly or they gonna send in different RFE;s for everything lol.

Gotcha ! I hope everything works out for you and you don't have another RFE ! This formI-944 is confusing for sure. If you don't mind I ask, What were the missing documents in your husband's tax return ? Did you only include the one from 2019 or 2 years prior as well ?

I am trying to figure it what to include since my husband's tax return has some much info, and at the same time I don't want to send so much documents so I don't bother them lol.

Thank you so much !

You’re fine! I added in the same as I did for my K1 interview package which was a transcript I believe from the IRS from my husband. But I needed a W2, 1099s, form 2555 and all supporting tax schedules and the 1040 from the most recent tax year. That’s what I’m gonna all send in today and of course only from my husband. I did include my latest tax return from the Netherlands in my I944.

Bumping an old thread. Did anyone just go with the beneficiarie's debts and liabilities and how did it turn out?

Did you ever get an RFE asking for the petitioner's debts/liabilities? I am taking the instructions quite literally and am interpreting that the instructions are telling you to include just the beneficiarie's debts/liabilities which my husband (who came in on a K1) does not have yet!

TIA!

To add to this, if the couple has a joint bank account for less than a year, is that considered an "asset" for the beneficiary? (My wife has no debts/car/credit card/house/etc to her name so would that entire section just be blank/zero in the I-944?)

We filed the paperwork with just my husbands debts and liabilities but included assets for the household (him and I) and everything was accepted - my husband got his work visa approved and currently we are just waiting for an interview.
