Hello im here in the same boat, got everything returned, now filling I-944. I been reading the instructions over and over to make sense of the requirements (which are not very specific to be honest) and to my understanding the bank statements should only be included if you are adding cash as part of your assets, and if you dont make 125% above the poverty level. So you would use cash as part of proof... Im here on an F1, and I had an sponsor for that, now my husband is my sponsor and that is the income that we have. Why would I need to add my own bank statements if I don't make any money? This is something that just doesn't add up... Yes my family sends me money but how would I add that as part of income?

Hi there. Sorry to hear that your package got returned. I am waiting for my package to be returned as well. In the mean time to answer your question, you have to include whatever statements you have dating till 12 months prior even if you didn't really have a lot in there in my opinion. And as far as I understand this form is mainly to show that you are likely not going to be a public charge. So this really is extra on top off the 125% sponsor income and assets. But again that is my interpretation. Its always safe to include what they specifically ask even if it doesn't make sense. Because they can always RFE you for that and delay the overall process.

Hey all,

I don't know what to do! I requested a credit score report from Equifax over three weeks ago but still haven't received one. My I-94 expires on May 13th and I am really anxious about this date since I have to pay for the I-130 document if I don't send in my AOS package before then. I called Equifax and they said that it can take up to TWO MONTHS to get the credit score report. I cannot wait that long!!

What should I do? Just write an explanation letter and then submit my husbands credit score report?

Try experian. They are free and you can get credit score and report in one go. And that to instantly.

Thank you for your reply but it's the same problem with them 😕 In order for me to get a credit score I have to send in copies of my passport, SSN card and lease agreement because nothing has yet been connected to my SSN. So when I'm trying it online the system just tells me to call customer service... :( So that's why Equifax asked me to send this in and they would get me the credit score, but now they say it can take up to two months..

OH I see. This must be hard to wait. If it helps, I am waiting on my docs, equivalency documents for college and high school and medical exam. One everything comes back assembles the package again and ship it off. I have realized that it's better to take time and do everything once and for all and right then to rush to get the package out.

Yeah it is really hard.. I do too, but I contacted WES (about my evaluation of degree) and they are currently not processing any new cases that was sent in after 10th of March 😕 So now I cannot send in proof of education either... it really sucks right now. However, the I-944 never says that you MUST submit proof of education, only if its available.

Do you think they will be understanding towards me not submitting a credit score report? This is partly because of COVID-19 - the processing times are A LOT longer than usual because of this pandemic...

Hi guys!

we are also refiling since our package before February 24th got denied due to extra remittance :( but we are still waiting for our package to be returned to us.

The I-944 has us totally confused - do they want my bank statements from my German bank account?

My husband and I only have a joint bank account since December.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well after receiving my original submission back I just left the post office sending the new i485 with the new i944.  Kinda upset at the post office lady who quite literally forced the packet into a bubble wrap envelope.  Just hope they don't mind if the package is a little bent on arrival...  I'll update everyone on how this on how this one turns out, fingers crossed 🤞

Did you sent the new packet today? If yes I guess we both are on the same exact timeline.

We submitted the I-944 with just my credit card debts. I followed a video on YouTube, by a lady, and I also went with my gut feeling to just mention my debts.  I hope I am right.

So far we have received our NOAs for I-130, I-485, I-765. Will have to wait for Biometric letter.

It says:

The application/petition has not been fully completed. Based on the selection made under Part 2 Application Type or Filling Category, the Form I-944, and/or Form I-864/I-864EZ are required . Please review the form instructions for information.

So, I don't understand because I submitted both the I-944 and the I-864. So I don't understand if there was something we didn't filled the forms right.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond!! You have been really helpful.

So the only thing I think we missed is the W-2's, but I thought submitting the 1040's and the IRS transcripts. Additionally, we are only summiting my husband's (petitioner) tax returns since I do not file taxes.
