Have you ever had to use a hospital in the Philippines?

Yes, I have. I have been to hospitals in the States and the Philippines. I don't see how being admitted to hospitals relates to the fact about the number of deaths and confirmed cases. My challenge still stands.

We are looking to travel back in June with a few day stop in Japan.  We haven't pulled the trigger on the tickets yet.

just an fyi. At work here in FL, we've been asked to stay away for 14 days if newly arrived from Japan, SK, China, Italy, Iran etc (effective last week).

So people can be healthy and not be affected but then you will be persona non grata in the work place when you immediately come back from these places.

I just received an email today from from my employer about international travel protocols.  I have to alert my supervisor, HR, and Occupation Health before I go.  When I return, I will be kept away from work for the CDC quarantine period of 14 days if I travel to location with a CDC risk warning.  Japan has one so...

Finally done.

Yep, we've heard about that 14 day quarantine as well.

We don't think it's gonna be worth the risk especially we are only planning about going home for a week.

We've informed my family already and of course, we are all sad :(

Oh well....

Probably later on, if this gets worse the employers will include domestic travel too. Hoping to go to Seattle this September which is for now a wait and see.

We paid a little more for the direct flight from LA to Manila. Skipped the cheaper flights through South Korea and Japan. Hopefully she will still be able to go in early April.

Finally done...

My 2 kids alone will be travelling to Philippines this end of May and will stay there for 2 months. I was thinking of cancelling but thinking about the situation there's no place right now that is safe even your own home unless no one among your  family members go out at all. They could be safer while staying over there or vice versa who knows! Their first original stopover was Japan but just decided to go on a straight PAL flight by paying little bit more.

What is so bad about the Philippines is from June 4th to July 4th the total cases doubled.  The graph is headed up like a rocket despite them being locked down pretty hard in Philippines and them wearing masks over there.

USA while they have more cases, at least it's only like 50% increase from June 4th to July 4th, which still isn't good.

In my opinion, it seems as if nobody really knows how to handle this.

The Philippines has held their doubling time of cases at 4 weeks since April, but their daily rate of deaths has actually fallen a little since then. That's pretty good evidence that the rising number of cases is due to better testing.

Regardless it seems as if nobody knows how to handle this.  Cases hit an all time high today in Philippines and the DOH blames contact, this is July 6th I just read.   Cases are spiking in Philippines, and still climbing in the USA.

Nobody knows how to handle it, or it can't be handled unless you go into severe lockdown which is really not a long term solution and has proved to ineffective once restrictions are released.

Just deal with it and let life move on.  I don't see shutting down society and the economy as being very effective in either US or Philippines.

How many test? The US has done a little more that 11 million test and about 1.4 million + results.

When the testing goes up, so do the cases. Recently the Atlantic Magazine has reported on the CDC and 11 different states mixing test results for the antibody and the viral test, which causes a misleading rise in Covid cases. Even CNN reported this: "The CDC says it's planning to separate those numbers in the coming weeks, but experts say the current method is unhelpful and potentially misleading."

"That's because antibody tests aren't used to diagnose current infections or determine whether someone is potentially contagious. Instead, they indicate whether someone has been exposed to the virus in the past."
