J1 waiver 2020 NOS update timeline

Hey everyone,

I see some people in this forum said that the DOS also gave them the option to fax documents to them instead of mailing. Do anyone have their Fax information, or know where I can get this? My embassy have sent them the NOS twice now, and it is still not reflecting in their system so I was hoping a Fax could help.

Final Update:

Finally got my FR on Jan 20, 2022.

So,

after initiating the congressional enquiry, they received a standard reply from the J1 waiver division (first in, first out; under processing; same stuff).

Surprisingly, the very same day, the J1 waiver division responded to one of my emails (sent on Nov 2, 2021) where I asked for a status update with a similar reply (different words, same meaning).

So, exactly after a week of the congressional enquiry and the email reply, I got the FR.

I somehow believe that the congressional enquiry did trigger some movement, but no way to be sure.

My suggestion:

If it has been more than 10 weeks since all the documents were sent, just go ahead with the congressional enquiry, can only help your case.

Good luck guys. This forum definitely helped me calm some nerves.

Post FR Update:

Got my receipt number from the USCIS Chat option today. (Finally relieved, phew!)

Status shows the case was received on Feb 1, 2022. But I have not received anything in the mail yet - No FR copy from the DoS or a receipt notice from USCIS.

Looking at the earlier posts, it seems like my timeline is kinda longer than expected since I hit over 12 weeks now since Oct 27th and over 19 weeks since my all docs (including NOS sent by the embassy) are delivered. What is a "Perfectly normal timeline"?

I saw someone got NOS update at Sep 29 and then FR at Jan 20.

So I think you may get FR at the end of this month.

I hope the process is getting faster..

@qwerqwer Not even a first update as of now. When I key in my case number in J1 waiver portal, it says " Currently, there is no information regarding the status of your case. If you would like additional information, please contact Public Inquiries at 212ewaiver@state.gov"

As per USPS tracking system, my application package was delivered to St. Louis on Oct. 20. Bank confirmed and provided a proof that cashier's check sent along with the application was cashed by "DoS- Visa Office" on October 22.

I saw someone who submitted the documents on Oct 6 got the first update about 2 weeks ago. I think you would get update very soon as long as Omicron did not affect the processing time.

I Received my J-1 wavier favorable recommendation from DOS In April 2020 (18 months ago) but never received I-612 from USCIS. I contacted USCIS and they told me that they have never received anything about my case from DOS, while DOS is saying that we send your information electronically to USCIS.

I am confused and worried about this situation. Any help will be very much appreciated.

Thank you

Hi, please contact your congressmen. USCIS couldn't find my case for 3 months until I got the congressmen involved and they were able to locate it and sent me my approval.

Hi all,

This is my timeline. I sent documents Mid April but in the system they appeared received June 8th.

My J1 visa expired on May so I had to leave. I'm currently in my home country waiting for the papers. Favorable recommendation was sent on September 22nd, however, I have not received any mail from DOS or USCIS to the address provided. It's been almost 3 weeks. When I call USCIS they say I'm not on their system. Is anyone else on the same situation? How can I track my case status? I have not received any paperwork whatsoever and I'm getting really concern.

Sharing my timeline above.

I got FR on Sep 22nd and since then I have been contacting USCIS to get my receipt number, they were never able to locate me in their system. After 3 months of not having answers I got my congressmen involved and they were able to locate my case with USCIS. It turns out my case was approved on Oct 7th and on Oct 22nd USCIS was informed that my letter was undeliverable to my address. I have to mention I changed my address with DOS but this was never informed to USCIS. So my letter was delivered the my old address which was an empty unit so it couldn't be delivered. On Dec 31st USCIS sent my approval notice to my new address (thanks to the congressmen) and I received my letter Jan 10th. If you have a similar issue were USCIS can not find you in their system, please contact your congressmen and ask for help. They approved my case months ago but I didn't know!

I went to my H visa appointment and the consular officer did not ask me for the approval notice and didn't even mention anything about the waiver. He just asked me a couple of questions and said my visa was approved. So, I'm not sure if they have access to USCIS system to see that my waiver was approved but was never asked for it. Just for your information.

My journey ends here (after 9 months), I wish everyone good luck!
