Finally, the DOS issued the FR. My NOS was updated on the 8th of March and FR was received on the 1st July (Slightly more than 16 weeks). I did contact the local congressman early this week and got a reply from the office stating that they have asked the DOS for expediting my case. I am inclined to think that did the trick, since DOS was highly non-responsive to my emails. I would suggest people to contact the local congressman once you are in between 12-16 weeks time frame, once all your documents are updated.

Fingers crossed for the next step with the USCIS :)

Hey-So my case hit 16 weeks today and no status update yet from DOS.I wrote them two emails but nothing.Lost another one last evening actually.

Contacted my senator but no response yet.

Question for you, did you email DOS once you hit the 16wks?Did the congressman ask you for evidence before contacting DOS on your behalf?

So I went to check my status on the DoS site and we finally received a FR!! Does anyone know what the next steps are or what I should be looking for after this??

The recommendation gets sent to the USCIS who take their own time for each individual case. Since you are obtaining waiver on the basis of No Objection Statement you just have to wait. You will receive a receipt notice for form I612(you don't have to fill that). We have seen receipt notices issued in a week to a month. After you get the receipt number you can track it on their website for the approval.

All the best.

Thank you so much. Just talked to them. So apparently the I 612 was sent on July 8.

Let's hope we hear a news soon. At least I have a receipt number in hand.

Do you have any update ? I was following your post. Exactly same case for me . My DOS recommendation (no objection) was sent to USCIS on 14 June and i just received my I797C ( i reached out congressman office already because this terrible offices did not send my anything in a month and no information according to USCIS. Now i see with my USCIS receipt that they received it on July 13. Hopefully , we will get approval very soon. please update if you get it.

Any update on your final approval ? what date it says on your uscis receipt that it received the case from dos ?

I have the exact same timeline as you. Received on July 13 as well, just got I797C. Status still mentions "Received at another USCIS Office".
Since avi865 had a similar 14 June timeline and notice was sent on July 8, we should hopefully receive it in 1-2 weeks. Will keep this forum posted.

Hey short question, I thought you only need I797 to change your status, what are you waiting next?

Not sure if the question was for me but in my situation,

my I-130 was approved in April and I was sent an RFE for the I-485. I replied to the RFE when the waiver was sent from the DoS to USCIS. Yesterday the USCIS approved the I-612 but I-485 is not yet updated. I am not sure how does it work so it might get updated today or may take months. At least I am still going to get a call from a tier 2 officer in the next 10 days so I will ask him if its not approved by then.

I feel reading experiences from others has given some method in this madness but still its quite unclear how they do the processing.

hoping the best for everyone.
