Yeah I can’t figure it out either…My expedite request got approved on 07/13 but still nothing happened except for the “name change update) which I didn’t request!

Interesting, how did you file the request? I filed it over the phone and had the feeling that the agent didn’t really capture the meaning of what I was trying to say.

re: name change, I think it happened to someone else on this thread a couple weeks ago, but they got their approval shortly after.

Yeah I called them and requested it via phone then they sent an email requesting documents as proof and I got an approval the next day. I’m a physician who’ll serve a rural area. The hospital that I’m with have a shortage of staff and only have one surgeon so they urgently need me to start working. I obtained a letter from the hospital president stating their urgent need, I thought I’d get an approval in 1-2 days but still waiting !!

Congratulations on your I-612 approval.

I'm a pgy1 waiting on my FR so my lawyer can file H1B an I can begin residency.

I have been denied exidited processing as residency does not qualify even in a medically underserved area.

what documents did you send to expedite your case, although this was on the USCIS end. it might help on the DOS end.

Hi @Mboti, exactly same situation here.. How is your timeline? Do your all documents seem uploaded on the tracker? If yes, when? Mine is pending since March 28th.. :( and they rejected expedition. Whenever I email them, they tell me that they process the cases according to the order that they receive the cases. Don't know what to do.

Hey there,

yeah the waiting game sucks. Now, for the DOS, try emailing them (you can find the email address on the DOS tracking page on the left side). I did that and the next day they granted me favorable recommendation. Include in the email why it’s important that u start ur residency for the program and on a personal level.

As for the documents I sent to expedite the USCIS I-612, I would recommend perhaps ur residency program can provide u with a letter stating their need for u.

All in all, they really need to expedite the process for all physicians-from a humanitarian aspect!

Best of luck!

Congrats on getting the DOS favorable recommendation. Now hopefully USCIS will quickly process ur I-612. R u doing this through a lawyer? If u r and hospital or u are willing to pay, file for H1B premium processing once u receive the I-612 notice of receipt (many folks I know did that even before their I-612 was approved and got their H1B approved rather quickly!

Hi Pales,

In my follow up, subject 'please assist' on 19th stating my NOS was sent 04/11 but they logged it as 05/30 which takes me  4weeks back and my DS 2019 ends in 3 weeks, this is distressing as i did not anticpate this delay. They sent that generic thingy of your document is complete and will be processed in the coming weeks.... track here bla bla bla. on 26th i sent the same thing stateing my colleague in the excat situation same submission time line, J1 program, country of origin... except NOS (was 04/25) got approved 07/07. I am stressed as to why mine is taking this long. same response.

A colleague gave me a contact to talk to on 07/25 who said he'd speak to someone, don't know if that worked. Glory to God for all the people he used.

@GHYF Did they reply you with some random text and processed it anyway? I wrote an email to them, explained everything, asked for assistance and I got the same reply with "The Waiver Review Division will continue to process your case in its normal first-in, first-out queue". My request for expedited processing was denied some time ago.

@pales My documents were received beginning of April, but NOS is still not there. The Embassy sent it 3 times (the paper version got lost, although it was delivered according to the USPS). Each time I asked DOS, they confirmed they have it (starting from end of April) and it will be entered in the future. I feel there is nothing else I can do. Expedited processing- denied. Sometimes my impression is that they delay it on purpose because I bothered them too much with inquiries, hopefully it is only my stupid worry.

Update: My No Objection Statement is received now with the date one day before the other docs were received. I'm so happy :) Finally some progress. By the way, I checked on Friday - nothing, I checked on Saturday after midnight (ET) still nothing, and I checked later today (Saturday) and it is there. So keep checking also on weekends :)
