Fulbright?

If it is Fulbright, then it's almost certain that a No Objection case will not be approved because the home country has no say on the value of the program... it was sponsored by US, and they don't issue waivers other than under some very specific circumstances (not N-O statements).

Not Fulbright. Program was funded by home country and organized by the US non profit.

@BrunoJ1 @SomeoneNamedIan @WGLKID @Hdd @qwerqwer We all are October 2021 applicants. Anyone of you have any update on your case? I do not see even a first update (documents received) as of now.

@iwantmywaiver @etcoflife are also October applicants. @iwantmywaiver was first week of Oct, and @etcoflife is last week of Oct. They both see there case as received on the waiver portal.

Any updates folks?

I had J1 in 2019 and currently on F1 visa.

If my J1 visa gets approved, can I travel out of the US to renew my F1 visa before adjusting my status later?

In summery , Does J1 waiver affects F1 visa ?

please share link to information if you have.

Update: On Feb 16, the J-1 waiver status tool updated to reflect that my documents were received, dated Feb 15. Documents were mailed Oct 12. No acknowledgment of receipt of NOS.

That's good to hear. They still didn't acknowledge the receipt of any of my documents. The package was delivered on Oct 15. By the way are you aware of how your country's embassy submitted the NOS? My country's embassy submitted it electronically. They say they followed the instructions provided by DoS but it makes me feel a bit uneasy.

The F-1 visa process is independent of the waiver, since it's a non-immigrant visa.

I have been working with local congressman and senator's office...

DoS actually lost my application package and they helped me to figure it out... Lol

But at this point, they have done all they can.

Hi StephanieAbc,

How did you know DoS lost your application package. Is there a way to check?

Congrats! Did you email DOS or get help from congressperson at all?

Thanks a lot!

  • I only emailed DOS when my NOS was not showing there as 'received' for months.. They replied me 2 months later, basically saying that they have an increase in the inquiries, they are trying to process the applications as soon as possible, but there is no guarantee for a particular finish date.
  • I did not contact a congressman, but I was seriously considering it these days.

I'm hoping that USCIS will act faster now.

Do you have an idea of how long the USCIS acts?

Now I am looking to the older posts, to get a sense of the USCIS part.

There are some people who got the USCIS approval in 2-3 weeks. But there are others who got nothing in 30-40 days.

Thanks for the response

I got my FR on Jan 20, got the receipt notice in mail from USCIS on Feb 8 (received date of Jan 26, notice date of Feb 1), but nothing after that yet. Case is still pending.
