A thread for people that filed their AOS packet in March 2020 to share their experience to keep track of timing and updates.

I'm a brand new poster, but I've been lurking on these forums for almost a year while prepping our AOS application. (My husband's been here since 2016 on an F-1 visa, we got married last summer.) We knew for awhile we were planning to file at the start of March, but I'm so glad I spotted the I-944 update in time to scramble our materials together. Luckily, we had lots of evidence but it was a lot to assemble - the biggest of our packets by far.

Anyway, I mailed the entire application (I-130 (and I-130A), I-485, I-944, I-864, I-765, and I-131) yesterday to the Chicago Lockbox. Assembled it in many folders based on those who have come before me (thank you to any and all for the guidance)! Fingers crossed.

Congrats @emrie

I, too, submitted my AoS packet yesterday and according to UPS they delivered it this morning. Crossing my fingers.

My package was received at the lockbox PO on March 6th, and still no text/email confirmation from the G-1145. Anyone else received any confirmation from a similar timeline? Also not sure if there are delays because of a) everyone filing before February 24th or b) office closures because of COVID-19.

I filed on Feb 22nd, received at the lockbox on Feb. 26th, and still no text notification. So I wouldn't expect it anytime soon. Now USCIS is allowing their employees to work from home due to the virus pandemic, so I'm guessing it will slow down the process by a little.

Mine was received on the 5th and still no confirmation. Fingers crossed I get a notification next week, getting a little anxious.

Hi @Ash_, if you don't have any accompanying children, you can include your income in the I-864 and are not required to submit the I-864A. See instructions:

Quote
  1. If you included the income of the intending immigrant who is your spouse ...He or she does not need to complete Form I-864A unless he or she has accompanying children.

However, if your husband's income meets or exceeds the federal poverty guidelines for your household, you don't need to include yours.

Since the I-944 is to be filled out by the intending immigrant, my husband filled that out. We included both of our incomes, tax summaries, bank accounts, etc. because financially our household is joined, but only his education/certifications etc because the purpose of the I-944 is to prove that he won't be a public charge in the future.

Let me know if I can help with anything else!

Another question @emrie

Did you [or your husband] have to submit all the pages of your health insurance policy or did you just do the certificate of coverage? My policy is 80 pages plus other documents!

Oh gosh, we struggled with that. I think the policy was like 10 pages or something - not quite as bad. We also got his insurance to send a letter stating his enrollment, and his recent tax form showing he was insured. I think 80 pages seems extreme - I think they're mostly trying to figure out what the out-of-pocket maximum is, to figure out how well you'll be covered should you have a health issue. Certificate of coverage and maybe a summary page of the policy?

My husband and I sent in the AOS paperwork which was delivered on March 9th and still haven’t heard anything yet.  We called the USCIS number and they gave us an email address to write to, but we just got an auto reply.  I’m anxious for him to get his work authorization but it isn’t like there’s a lot of job out there right now anyway.

In order to get work authorization he needs to do biometric first, but for now it's not possible anyway because everything is closed. So it's kinda hard times for almost everyone(

And also, it can take up to 30 days to receive a confirmation.
