Our I130 got approved today.
Noa1 Jan 7, 2020

Filed online

Date change on feb 23, may 1, may 7

No service center transfers

I kept seeing posts here recently that right before people getting their I130 approved they saw date changes on their uscis account. It was the case with us too.

I do wonder why they have been approving later applicants before earlier applicants recently. For those who are still waiting, I really hope you will get approved soon.

Hello everyone,

Both myself(applicant) and my husband received notification from the NVC that my I-130 was approved.  They also asked us to open an online account with the Department of State's Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC).

I-130 filed - March 4, 2020
I-130 Approved - May 6, 2020.

What are normally the next steps we should expect including timeline. If there is a thread that already covers this topic and you can point me towards it, I would appreciate it so we can prepare for the next steps and have all our ducks in a row.

I also wonder if countries that are on the visa ban have been getting their spousal visa's approved as were both from Nigeria.

We are about to pay our fees and wait for an interview. My husband is Nigerian. Being on the trave ban list we pray that the consular will put in for a waiver. Best of luck to us all. His friend was given a visa and on the visa it says presidential proclamation waived.

Sorry for clarification, you filed March this year or March last year?

Hey Everyone,

I know I haven't been posting updates here, but we're all truly busy during these times. I hope all is well and you're safe.

I'll respond shortly .. but so you'd know what's happening: the word is that service centers are more in favor of processing IOE applications than paper applications .. for obvious safety reasons.

You can ask for expedite, or make inquires .. you'll end up with either answers: expedite denied (unless truly valid) or the wait 60 days bla bla-letter.

All I can tell you is that their processing is slower than before .. I saw them process a day's quota of cases (in normal days) over 3-4 days, that is 1/3 of the normal processing. Sometimes that changed a bit, give or take.

We all need to be patient, period.

@AMS13 Can you please make another update. I wish I knew how to do it myself. I'm especially interested in the January and February cases still left to process. Thank you! 🙏

More updates to come soon!

@AMS13 been reading through your rich advices and opinions... Is USCI processing transferred cases to Vermont based on when the were received at the new jurisdiction or just randomly!? I saw only 8 - I130 cases that have not been touched. Should we expect to hear something soon? How soon?

"Jurisdiction" is no longer a valid term. It's more about "load balancing" nowadays, in consideration with as less as possible contact with "paper-filed cases", at least cases that were physically filed during the pandemic. Other than that, you're good!

IOE cases are the fastest ... the end.

UPDATE:

Following up on cases remaining:

13.33% in Jan.
28.70% in Feb.
33.20% in Mar.
71.40% in Apr.
89.30% in May.
71.10% in Jun.

* These are almost two weeks worth of statistics.

* These suggest that April is currently the fastest in processing, however, April, May, and June are almost all equal in processing. March has a steady-ish rate. But Jan and Feb are declining.

* Over 1200 cases were recently transferred, in May, in preparation for processing/approval.

UPDATE:

Following up on cases remaining:

8.70% in Jan.
16.70% in Feb.
19.30% in Mar.
31.80% in Apr.
50.18% in May.
54.02% in Jun.

For those who lost hope and/or cannot wait for their case to be approved/processed .. join the club!
But know this: it's almost useless to have your case approved and U.S. embassies are still closed .. although it's better than nothing. So, delay in this case may actually be a positive thing .. instead of having the year expiration count down on your case starting soon.

Hi AMS13,

Just had a quick question. You mentioned above that USCIS are more likely to work on IOEs - electronic applications vs paper applications. I filed in November by paper but received an IOE number. What category do I fall under? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the update. Where do those stats come from ? Is this based on VJ data ? Thanks @AMS13 😀

Hi,

So I have more than one concern and would appreciate your feedbacks. My case has been transferred to 3 different places. Each time I would ask they would vaguely give me an answer. Since filing in November, I had been having issues with USCIS mailing my NOA1 and I finally got it settled. Apparently they had mistyped my address. I received my NOA1 after 5 months. And without the NOA1 which had the online access code meant I couldn’t access my online account. But finally, I had the issue resolved last month and now can access my online account.

Recently I called the technical support to have them fix my online account which still showed the wrong address and also told him that I didn’t have the option to edit it myself (there was no edit icon for address). He assured me that it was ok coz they have my full address and not to worry about the online profile. I went with his reasoning but I still feel uncomfortable with the missing portion of my address on my Online account profile. Anyway, he seemed nice and kept asking me if I had any other questions which was odd coz they usually seem busy and ready to end the call. This one seemed really nice and willing to help further. So I asked him to confirm my CS and then asked him why I was transferred 3x. He then said that my file looks good and that its on its final stages and when one reaches that stage they transfer to their local office? (I don’t live in Nebraska?) And my account still shows the statement “case was received and a notice was emailed”, which to me means it has not been touched.

The most weirdest part is that, I received an email confirmation from the technician stating in his notes that I called to inquire about my case. That was not true, I only called to fix the address on my online account which was my primary concern. Anyway, someone told me that the more you call USCIS and nag the more they will push your case behind. Is this true? Did I jeopardize my timeline to be moved from Potomac to Nebraska? And my other question is, was the technician right to say that my case was transferred to my local office for adjudication for an approval? And has anyone experienced 3x transfer? Or does anyone know why a case would be transferred 3x?

NB/ I am a US citizen wife filing I-130 for my husband.

Thank you in advance for your inputs. Would really appreciate your help.

Is this true?

Not true, sounds like you have nothing to worry about for now.  Sounds like a pain but looks like you are in a good spot now.

I don't think that will get updated until you get approved so I wouldn't worry about that either.
