Have you recently tried contacting the embassy at all? Sometimes when you contact them they take a quick look at your case to answer your question, and that can cause your last updated date to change.

I did not contact the embassy.

I think you just need to wait for a couple of days to see if it resolves itself, stressful, but perhaps necessary. Good luck

My fiancé interviewed on january 16 and after the interview the officer said that she needed to submit birth certificates for her kids and a new cenomar for herself and her ex boyfriend that she has kids with. (no 221g).  i checked yesterday and it said administrative processing and i checked it just now and it says refused but the case last update was on February 18 and it is now March 2nd.  Is this the end or is it still in administrative processing?  the pic I'm posting makes me unsure.  She has not received anything from the embassy since the interview.  Please help

If you notice the "case updated" date, it hasn't been "officially" updated since Feb 18.  This glitch from yesterday happened but your case shows no update.  Relax.  They will fix it.

look through the new posts, seems lots of AP statuses were changed to Refused, there are periodic hiccoughs in the system, to the best of my knowledge there has not been any notification of mass changes to AP statuses. Look at the video above your post and it explains it (not recommending the lawyer) he states the problem quite clearly

I spoke to any attorney and my embassy and they both said it is just an updated way of saying your case is refused until administrative processing is completed - if you check your online status, the statement should say the following:

"If you were informed by the consular officer that your case was refused for administrative processing, your case will remain refused while undergoing such processing."

It does not mean that your case was rejected and closed.

CEAC changed the status of everyone who is currently in administrative processing to say "Refused" - that just means that they can't give you a visa until your administrative processing is completed.

What it does not mean is that your case is closed and you will not be getting a visa.

Nothing else has changed in our cases and we will just continue waiting.  Once administrative processing is complete, the CEAC status will change again to reflect that.

Moderator announcement:

VJ members,

There seems to be a large number of reports of cases  showing "Refused" after being in "Administrative Processing" with no explanation of the change. This occurrence does not seem to be related to just one visa category. There have been many threads started because of this issue and the forum is beginning to get crowded with the same posts.

In an effort to keep the conversation on-going in one place and reduce clutter and confusion on the board, this thread is created so people can reference it with information until this is resolved. Hopefully, this will be resolved soon.

In the meantime, please continue to share information you may have in this thread.

Thank you,

VJ Moderation

My husband got interviewed last Feb 27, visa approved on inteeview, he was given instruction flyer how to collect his passport . No documents required from him. Yesterday March 3, his ceac status changed from AP to refused with date updated same Feb. 28. Today I checked still refused. He called embassy yesterday and told him that unless he receives any letter from consul regarding his status, his case is still under review. I am just so devastated right now coz we do not know what happened. I am hoping this would be resolved and hoping everyones visa would be issued. Sending my prayers for all of us.. Pls. post any updates..

It must be a glitch. My husband's says Refused (even though this morning he received an email from the Embassy asking to submit his passport and birth certificate), and my stepson's says AP (though the date changed to today's one).

That is a very good sign.    They should be in Tucson before the heat comes on ...  end of May starts to get toasty for sure.

Hi, i have went through H1b dropbox and then asked to appear for interview. In interview, after few questions they issued me 221g blue form. On CEAC website, after a month status changed from Admin Processing to Refused. what does it means ?

What did the 221g Blue Form ask for and did we send the requested documents back to the consulate?
