Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg suspended his presidential campaign Wednesday after a disappointing Super Tuesday performance, the candidate said in a statement.

The decision comes after the Democratic candidate won only the American Samoa caucuses on Super Tuesday. He spent hundreds of millions of dollars from his own fortune on his 2020 bid.

He immediately announced he would be endorsing Joe Biden.

"I’m a believer in using data to inform decisions. After yesterday’s results, the delegate math has become virtually impossible – and a viable path to the nomination no longer exists. But I remain clear-eyed about my overriding objective: victory in November," Bloomberg said in his statement.

And in backing the former vice president, Bloomberg emphasized “I’ve known Joe for a very long time. I know his decency, his honesty, and his commitment to the issues that are so important to our country – including gun safety, health care, climate change, and good jobs."

Now he'll be spending those mega bucks on Joe.

I am just glad the ads, television, radio and print will be done.  I wonder how much he will spend on Sleepy Joe, and if he makes Joe pick him for VP to get the money.

Not a chance in hell Mike gets VP pick. He has zero intersectionality bonus points. Going by this criteria of identity politics the Dems cater to it's going to be a woman/non-white person.

Sometimes money talks, but I agree, more than likely either Joe or Bernie would pick someone that checks as many identity politics boxes as possible.

I do wonder, now that Bloomberg is out, will he lift the political reporting ban he imposed on Bloomberg News with respect to the Democrats?  I imagine since he is endorsing Sleepy Joe, it may stay in place for him, but maybe he will open the gates for Bernie and the last minority in the race.
