It does say on the receipt that it acts as proof of extension. Some companies (usually big ones) also do their own check and send USCIS some kind of request where they verify that you're indeed able to take extra 180 days. I did it with my employer (big international company). Basically it shouldn't be an issue.

The company I work for is a big company too so I am hoping this is normal for them. Thank you for the response!

And also follow up question to those who requested a renewal of EAD, how long you waited to get the renewal? How long is the validity of the renewal?

The validity is 1 year. I received mine after 3 months (requested in Dec 2019, received March 2020), but there are a few people here that wait 8-10 months and still pending...

Oh wow good for you. So I am wondering what needs to be done when the 180 days has expired already and still didn't receive the renewal?

Not much you can do, sometimes you would have to terminate your employment just because of the processing times, this is our sad reality. But you can already contact your congressman to ask for help, and once you get closer to 180 day expiration date you can try contacting ombudsman office.

Hello Family,

I hope everyone is safe from this craziness around. I have a question. Today my employer asked for my new EAD, it will expire next month May 30. I filed a renewal last January and received the receipt notice. The receipt notice serves as a 180 days extension while waiting correct? Is this a common thing that any company knows?

Thanks in advance!

Wow we have a same date my EAD expire May 30 too

i send renewal at the and of February and waiting

Can you help understand - what is the difference between ombudsmen office and congressman? Why would contact ombudsmen and when do you recommend reaching out to congressman and how to find my designated congressman?

https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative This is where you can find your congressman using your zip code.

You can reach out to congressman whenever you feel like it, but it is commonly recommended to use their help if there are delays with your processing (like the card was ordered 6+ months ago and it's still not here, online processing times are past the date when you filed, your card is expiring and so on). Ombudsman is an office that deals with USCIS mistakes, sort of. So if you have a rather critical situation (like waiting for EAD maybe 10+ months, online processing times show they are processing Jan 2020 while you applied in November 2019 etc.) then you can open an inquiry with them.

I am not an expert at this, it's just something I did for my I360 when it was delayed after RFE.

Hello everyone,

I have a question,  i have a pending i360 since August 2018 , and in the application I did not request a work authorization card because I had one valid for 2 years ,

So will uscis send me one if I'm approved?

And how long does it usually takes from card produced  to actually receive the vawa approval notice ?

Thank you .
