why your prima facie is valid for 180 days? i received mine last week valid for 1 years.

It’s probably your first  prima facie determination. You will usually receive prima facie valid for 180 days after the initial one that was valid for a year is your case was not adjudicated on time.

My approval online says that if I don’t get my approval letter by mail by today I can open an inquiry and I really with I could send it to my house instead os my lawyer’s address because he is a mess and completely disorganized!

Do you guys know if I can request a new approval letter to an an address different than my lawyer’s (to my house)?

Thanks

Hey guys!

Hope you all doing okay.

I don’t know what to do now.

I filed my Work authorization more than 10 months ago.

I still waiting.

Its expired on May 25

Almost 3 weeks ago I filed EAD request for expedition.

But I never heard anything back from them.

I contacted with our governor and his office didn’t respond.

Im kind of panicking😱

If I won’t get it till May 25 I won’t be able to work and drive.

But I have a child and need to provide everything and pay my bills.

Any advice?

Thanks🙏🏻

God bless all Vawa applicants,

I just received my prima facie after replying to prima facie rfe. It says they do not expect the vawa case to be processed within one year of prima facie validity and that is why they will send a renewed prima facie if case is not processed within 1 year of prima facie validity

is it a standard language as my Vawa case was filed back in fall 2018 and based on run rate it can be adjudicated this year (so less than a year wait)? Did my delayed response to prima facie rfe made my case delayed? And last do I need to apply for renewed prima facie or USCIS will just send me the renewed one when current one expires? Does it mean that once I-360 is adjudicated - one cannot use public benefits anymore as prima facie won’t be renewed?

i am sorry for many questions but still feel unclear

This is standard, don’t worry. How long did you take to reply to RFE? What was it about, just curious

when your current prima facia expires, USCIS May or may not send you another one. If they don’t you can request it if you are using it for any purpose like aid etc or even for peace of mind. Presence or absence of Prima facia does not make your case strong or weak.

if you are using public benefits based on prima facia, then yes, you need it to continue- I think, not 100% sure

It was request for initial evidence to establish prima facie (good moral character and good faith marriage). We did not reply right away - only in like 10 months as there was no deadline.

what kind of aid does prima facie do - can some one share their experiences using it? I heard public benefits are not good now for immigrants but still want to learn. Does prima facie give public benefits as if one is a resident? Confused.

The letter will go to your attorney because he's your representative therefore his address will be used as always. Chances are that before you complete the process of redirecting mails to your physical address...the letter would have gotten to your attorney! 💁

VAWA petitioners are exempt from public charge rule as mentioned here severally. Aside establishing your case as 'meeting requirements' to qualify for the petition, PF helps you get a number of public assistance..including Medicaid, FAFSA, foodstamps ETC. You can look it up as well.👍

Hello Family,

I hope everyone is safe from this craziness around. I have a question. Today my employer asked for my new EAD, it will expire next month May 30. I filed a renewal last January and received the receipt notice. The receipt notice serves as a 180 days extension while waiting correct? Is this a common thing that any company knows?

Thanks in advance!

It does say on the receipt that it acts as proof of extension. Some companies (usually big ones) also do their own check and send USCIS some kind of request where they verify that you're indeed able to take extra 180 days. I did it with my employer (big international company). Basically it shouldn't be an issue.
