It's always safer to get it done when you have an interview date. It's true that it's valid for 2yrs..but as at the time you turn it over to USCIS, the civil surgeon's signature must not exceed 60days. Except something changed..this is what I remember.👍 Hey Apolo..I remember your case..so how long has it been now since your approval?

My VAWA was approved in September of 2019 and so far there were no update on my I-485 and also i haven't received any letters from the USCIS. The only thing i have received was the approval letter. wbu how is your case going, and do you have any suggestions regarding how to proceed from this point on?

Ok it's just been about 9months after approval from your timeline. Your case should be sitting at your local office now..not everyone gets update..USCIS as we know can be messy at times. And oh..did you forget I already have my Greencard now...since March LOL😊👌

The 60 days is irrelevant if the I-485 is already filed: https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-8-part-b-chapter-4

It repeatedly says "60 days before applicant filed underlying benefit application with USCIS" The underlying application is Form I-485.

That's awesome..👌

Not a problem...although my experience is documented in the previous thread(17)..last two pages. VAWA approved March 2019, case transferred June 2019, courtesy letter July 2019, interview letter end of January 2020, interview scheduled for March 2nd 2020. Was in and out within minutes..just yes or no questions..no reference to my i360, spouse or divorce. The officer was a great guy. I said it better in the previous thread..as I just experienced it then. Awesomeness through n through!😊👍

Regarding selective services guys. I registered only because someone on this forum said me to do so. But neither Embassy overseas, CBP officer or even USCIS local office when I went there never even mentioned this thing. That's weird...are they willingly missleading or why there is no clear requirements given to you when you immigrate ?
And regarding the above person, he immigrated at 25 on B2 visa. This is visa is not immigrational visa, so I would not be 100% solid that it was required in his situation, because he was not an immigrant back then on B2. It's like tourists on b1/b2 are not required to register with selective services, so I don't think he was required. But then it depends what age did he change his status to immigrant?

He overstayed the B-2 stay 4 months prior to turning 26. So he was required to register within 30 days after the I-94 expired: https://www.sss.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/WhoMustRegisterChart.pdf Also, late registration was allowed until he turned 26.

But neither Embassy overseas

Embassy only notifies when applying for Immigrant Visa. K-1 is still technically a Non Immigrant Visa. https://ceac.state.gov/ivapp/ivapp/esign/ds-1810.pdf

Hi Apolo,

Like you I am also impatiently awaiting interview notice. My VAWA got Approved in Jan 2019, until now i am still waiting. N.Y filer. I really do understand your frustration. I was hoping that after uscis open tomorrow I might get notice soon until I just saw the link below and heard a lawyer on YouTube said they put green card interview on hold. We just have to hold on to whatever little patient we have left.

so it was not required to register with K-1 ? I am basically still not a resident, but over 26. So did I need to register ?
