I had my 485 interview in March 2020 which was filed alongside my 360 petition packet way back in February 2017.

I had a question,...i recently saw a post on facebook forum (the lady got her GC. without an interview after  almost 9 months of Vawa approval )

is this a new thing of no interview or it has been for some cases since long ?

Was in school back then so I quickly got my medical redone, took time off school to attend.

March 2020

Interview - it wasn't as easy as I expected, I had to start from scratch by the telling the officer everything because that was what she requested to know. Wasn't friendly or hospitable.i went thru my horrors during the interview which was almost 2 and half hours.

Refused to tell me whether my vawa was approved or not. She barely didn't want to read to me my 485 case number but she finally did with EAC........

don't want to go much into it but for actual details you can read my experience during the beginning of March of the forum here.

Congratulations! When did you receive your ead c31? I received mine a month ago and I’m waiting for the approval notice

@DmytriiD Thanks! My receipt date was in Oct. 2018, and I received my C31 card the first week of April 2020. The approval letter I received today is the approval letter that comes after we receive the C31 card 🙂

 @Aprilvawa, thanks!!! I received my C31 card the first week of April 2020. Since you received your card last month, your approval letter may be on its way soon 🙂

Yes you're right I360 approval first before 485 but in my situation it was the opposite, 485 interview before 360 approval. There's no interview for the 360 just one for the 485. You might be the lucky one to have both approvals with no interview 😊🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

There is no interview regarding the I-360 petition.The person who asked the officer if the VAWA was approved or not, she had the i-485 interview then obviously her I-360 was approved.

If you travel before green card approval USCIS probably will see your old asylum case as a "frivolous", it means they might  consider you "a person non credible",that being said they won't believe in anything that you mentioned in your VAWA case, but If the judge mentioned already that your asylum was frivolous  then you won't be able to adjust status.

 

I had one case like this before, but I was able to convince VAWA Unit that his denied asylum was not frivolous, I didn't handle his asylum case. USCIS mentioned in his VAWA decision  that his asylum was frivolous then they didn't believe in anything that he mentioned in his VAWA petition, but he got the GC after I answered "A NOTICE OF INTENT TO DENY".
