Hi everybody! Hope all you guys are fine and healthy. I have a couple of questions and I would like your opinion about it:

1. I received my EAD C31 at the end of March, no approval letter no even the SSC

2. My lawyer moved from the other office and said they sent the new address to USCIS, however due the pandemic the office is close and only one day a week a person recollect mail from the new office and the old one.

3. Online USCIS doesnt show that my file has been send to my local office ( in my case is San Francisco, CA).

My lawyer said is fine that no worries since USCIS is working slower due the pandemic she is not going to send yet any letter asking for the approval or the courtesy letter.

So, under all I just said should I wait longer, Should I press my lawyer or should I contact a Congressman?

Thank you guys!

Letters should be notarized. I sent out notarized scanned letters as well..there were some that weren't notarized only signed.I believe the scanned letters will do. It's not expensive to notarize letters here in the U.S. so those friends can do that and send you the scanned copies.👍

Thanks for the answer.
But I don't know much English. I didn’t explain it that way. All copy letters (via email) I have.
Should I have the original? (a document that is personally signed by the pen and seal of the bank)

It doesn't hurt to contact your congressman while waiting...most of these attorneys just want to go at their own pace and do things their way...he might get irritated if you press him..I'll advise you contact your representative.👍

It's okay to have the original..but a scan is a mirror of the original as well and in my opinion will do! I told you I did same thing. If they are able to mail it to you, that's awesome too.👍

You can follow up with your congress person. Usually it comes within 3 months after c31

Apolo the AOS will be denied just if you got married before VAWA approval, or have a felony or misrepresented facts  to obtain your visa to come to the U.S.

Once again i want to say thank you Sandranj ❤️

And no, I'm no married to anyone. I was married to my abuser, but not anymore, and i want to first get better mentally financially and emotionally before i commit to someone else. No, i have never lied to immigration never committed any misrepresentation of any kind at not knowingly.
Im just scared and nervous because of the wait and idk what is happening, and my mind is going crazy.

Once again thank you Sandranj

Dear community and friends -

I have finished my divorce with my ex. Divorce decree is just saying “due to incompatibility”.

She filed for divorce first and accused me of cheating and domestic violence. That was a complete lie as she filed for divorce after I bought her expensive things like car and jewelers and plus she wanted to get half of house that I bought before marrying her. I counter petitioned accusing her in cheating and domestic violence as how she treated me like a dog as unbearable (constant threat to withdraw her I-130...) and I had proof of infidelity.

Anyhow, then she supplemented her petition with annulment petition that I did a fraud to get her married to me for immigration purposes/get green card and also that she never signed the prenup. I think she wanted to do it as did not want have record of marriage in the future plus wanted to get all materialistic things she could from me. Obviously, non of her accusations were supported by evidence and when my attorney requested her oral deposition - she backed off and we ended up with “normal” divorce decree where we have restraining order for rest of life though (500 ft) - which I am so happy about.

Question is: how bad this nasty divorce can be for my reputation (accusations of infidelity, domestic violence and fraud) as divorce records are public. Yes divorce decree does not have any accusations towards me but I still feel insecure that someone can see what was going on during divorce process. I am not a public figure but what if one time someone can use the divorce records against me...

so far no one cared when I moved from one firm to another and they did background check on me.

even now when I fill out different legal forms - there is usually a question: “have you ever been charged or cited with fraud or domestic violence?”. I don’t know what to respond these as technically yes I was but it was in civil court (not criminal) and all these charges / accusations from ex-wife are PROVEN to be not true per final divorce degree.

overall - I want to seal the records but ex wife is against it. So I am thinking if it’s worth the fight and money spending here...

hope for advice

Not really an advice but a reassurance that it doesn't have any adverse effect on your reputation. Like you said..it is civil not criminal..so hey..nothing significant to worry about! Criminal charges are what really dents reputation..so chilax! Also your final divorce decree refutes all accusations from your ex nightmare!😊👍

March 2020

Interview - it wasn't as easy as I expected, I had to start from scratch by the telling the officer everything because that was what she requested to know. Wasn't friendly or hospitable.i went thru my horrors during the interview which was almost 2 and half hours.

Refused to tell me whether my vawa was approved or not. She barely didn't want to read to me my 485 case number but she finally did with EAC........

don't want to go much into it but for actual details you can read my experience during the beginning of March of the forum here.

You just can travel if you have a pending AOS and the advance parole.Do not travel if you have a deportation order or asylum case.

How about an old asylum case that was denied a few years ago?
