but you cannot get them done more than 60 days before you turn them in.  So a medical that is already one year old when you get to your interview, they will  not accept.

You misread the policy: https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-8-part-b-chapter-4

A completed Form I-693 submitted to USCIS on or after November 1, 2018 retains its evidentiary value to support a finding that an applicant is not inadmissible based on health-related grounds if it meets any of the following scenarios:

  • The civil surgeon signs Form I-693 no more than 60 days before the applicant files the underlying benefit application with USCIS; and USCIS issues a decision on the underlying benefit application no more than 2 years after the date of the civil surgeon’s signature.
  • The civil surgeon signs the Form I-693, and the applicant submits Form I-693, after the applicant files the benefit application with USCIS; and USCIS issues a decision on the underlying benefit application no more than 2 years after the date of the civil surgeon’s signature.

In all cases, a Form I-693 signed by a civil surgeon more than 60 days before the applicant files the underlying benefit application is insufficient for evidentiary purposes as of the time of its submission to USCIS. The table below illustrates these scenarios.

Form I-693 Submitted to USCIS On or After November 1, 2018

When did civil surgeon sign?

I-693 retains evidentiary value through

No more than 60 days before applicant filed underlying benefit application with USCIS

2 years from date civil surgeon signed I-693

After applicant filed benefit application with USCIS

2 years from date civil surgeon signed I-693

More than 60 days before applicant filed benefit application with USCIS

N/A – I-693 not valid at time applicant submits I-693 to USCIS

@Stillwinning!!!😊 and @Godschild: see the middle row above that starts with "After applicant filed benefit application with USCIS"

So, after it’s been filed and VAWA approved your medical is good after 60 days? Sorry confused. I think I’ll just wait to receive courtesy letter to obtain medicals. I’m just curious why wait until you receive that noticed versus going when you receive the reminder paperwork. Thank you guys though.

In the policy, where it says "underlying benefit application" it's referring to I-485. Per the table illustrating the policy, if you do the medical after filing I-485 then it will be valid for 2 years

USCIS sent her a courtesy letter..this means the medicals needs to be updated! It's probably been more than two years like the table above suggests...simply get it done!💁 the last part was what I was explaining to her..

Hi everyone,

I do hope we are all keeping safe at this time.

I am yet to receive my SSN (offices are closed) but my attorney told me to wait for 2 weeks that the SSN are now sent by mail automatically when EAD is issued.

I called Social security they asked for my EAD details which i gave and they said they do not have the request yet from USCIS. I was given an immigration number to call and ask why the SSN request has not been sent. I did call the number and they are having difficulties pulling up my information on my i360 or the EAD. I was advised to write a letter to Vermont requesting that the my SSN request will be sent to the Social security administration or I will have to wait till social security administration open (they not sure when the office will be opened because of Covid) or I send the card by mail to the nearest SS office which the SSA person warned me against because he said it could get missing.

1. Please who has just received an C31 EAD and got SSN in the mail?

2. should I go ahead to write Vermont?

3. Did anyone who received C31 work authorization get the SSN automatically without going to the social security administration office.

@Stillwinning!!!😊 @sandranj

I am eternally grateful for the help I got from this forum. Thank you and do have a blessed day

I remember when I got my EAD back in 2017...don't know how it is now..I was told to wait for some time.. for my information to be on the SAVE system before I can apply for SSN. If you try to secure it earlier what you went through is what's going to happen. Except I missed something..I don't think they're sending out SSN..you have to apply for it..at least the last time I checked! Stay tuned for other contributions..I may learn something new as well.😊👍

Looks like maybe mazi selected "Yes" to "Do you want the SSA to issue you a Social Security card?" on the I-765 application

application-for-employment-authorization

Let's find out from her if she actually selected that option...but what I understood from her post was that the lawyer is insisting that SSNs are now being sent automatically to folks..this singular statement made me believe she didn't tick the option...might be wrong, but we'll find out!💁

The pandemic is not helping matters generally as well. A month should have being enough!💁please respond to my earlier post. Did your attorney tick that option?
