Yes correct! I have EAD C31 still valid until July 2020 but i only use my EAD/AP C09. You don't pay to the renew  the C09 and is a Combo card (advance Parole).

 

For EAD C31 you have to pay the renewal.

I clearly asked her me being a VAWA petitioner with no valid EAD can I apply for unemployment benefits for which she responded that I can apply referring to her earlier post which I know it’s wrong. 

 

I know it’s not legal to work with EAD and we cannot file for unemployment benefits.

I think you mentioned that you do not have work authorization that's why I replied that with EAD you can't work. Plus, Sandra is helping all of us we never had any communication issues with her

I am kind of worried. I applied AP and EAD on july 10th 2019. Last week i received my EAD but there is no news on AP. My status for AP show this

 

On February 10, 2020, we approved your request for expedite processing on your Form I-131, Application for Travel Document, Receipt Number MSC*******. We are processing your case and will send you a notice of action with our final decision.

 

I do not know why this is taking that long to approve AP?  Any idea?

My dear! I never asked without EAD can I work?

My question was whether a VAWA applicant without work permit or EAD I.e waiting for a EAD can apply for unemployment benefits. Of course last year I worked with my valid EAD and I had to quit that job because my work permit expired and was waiting for my EAD (category 31 since then to join work .

No, I was talking about first stimulus check, my online status get updated and tomorrow I will receive it. It's kind of great help from Government in this very difficult time of corona pandemic.

I appreciate Sandras great work and I respect her. I noticed her timely help to all responding well.

Maybe she misunderstood my question. In fact I was working last year with a category C9 EAD and I was depending on my lawyer who filed Category 31 which took too many months till date. I had to quit my job last year once my EAD expired and I am jobless till date living with my uncle after filing the VAWA application.

I know vey well we cannot work without a valid EAD and I also knew from few of the lawyers that I should not file for unemployment due to this pandemic. Thx

Hi VJ family, can someone please advice if on my SSC says: Valid for work only with DHS Authorization do I have to go and apply for a new ssc after I-360 approval or I have to wait until AOS approval.

Only when you receive your Green Card.  The number will be the same

Yeah that's right..my file was at NBC when they sent me the CL! I believe NBC vets the file before transferring to local office! Hope you get your good news soon!😊👍

You answered your own question with your statement. It’s kinda common sense EAD gives people the right to work that don’t have status yet, so if you no longer have that right (EAD expires) how can you have the right for unemployment benefit? Unemployment benefit is tied to your SSN number for which clearly states only valid with EAD. Sandra didn’t misunderstand your question, it sounded like you were asking her to make a false assurance. We all need a valid EAD to work or adjusted status. The other attorneys advised you not to apply for unemployment and I would recommend listening to that advise.

Yeah my guess was that after a few months wait to get reviewed by NBC the case would be transferred right after they issue a CL, but for some convoluted reasons, such as them maybe waiting to pile up a bunch of cases and send them together, they don't send it right after.
