Hello VJ Family, I hope everyone is doing well during these times, I have been silent reader for awhile,

I filled VAWA in May 2019 and did received Prima Facia, which expires 15 June, next month, I am wondering what should I do? or just wait for them to send me a new Prima Facia, and also Ead is still pending since, I applied for it November 2019.

Thank you in advance.

You can send the letter to Vermont with your signature asking to extend Prima Facie and enclose the copy of your original one. It will speed up the process.
I’ve had 3 extensions in my case never on time, only after reminders. Good luck !

Hello everyone. I hope everyone is doing well. Please I need help on how  to apply for financial aid now that my Vawa has been approved. I plan on going back to school this fall. How do I apply with an approved Vawa?

Go to the website

https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa

And just complete the registration and chose the school that you wanna attend to and once approve contact the school and they will assist from there.

Use the link in the post above. You are an "eligible noncitizen." "You are a “battered immigrant-qualified alien” who is a victim of abuse by your citizen or permanent resident spouse, or you are the child of a person designated as such under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)." https://studentaid.gov/understand-aid/eligibility/requirements/non-us-citizens

I've only heard of 1 person here get recent gc approval without interview. They haven't started scheduling interviews yet.

At the interview they usually ask standard questions about your info, parents' names, "no" questions about terrorism etc, sometimes can ask if you're been divorced. I haven't read of anyone saying officer was asking any deeply personal questions about marriage/abuse.

Not sure about the list of what to bring, someone else may give advice on that. But I would bring all my passports, DL, birth certificate + translation.

Your case is approved, you may receive an approval letter within 1-3 months of the card status, but some people never do. That will not change anything, since the card produced date your case has been approved even if you don't have the approval letter.

Thank you thank you.

i will be finalizing the divorce soon. Is an officer at interview asking for details of divorce? Does uscis check divorce records like discovery, petitions and etc or they just look at divorce agreement? Do they they check family court records? My divorce is very nasty and my soon to be ex husband is threatening me and wanted to annul the marriage first blaming that I frauded him since he does not want to accept that he was abusive. He even blames me I abused him and cheated on him.

Guys... how are you? I hope everyone is safe during this trying time..

I have my Prima Facia already and is still valid. I applied the pandemic unemployment assistance at my state and it just got approved. Now I am worried it's gonna backfire on me later.. But I have no way of finding jobs with this lockdown and I havent been working b.c I did not have my EAD. Will this count as public charge?

Thank you and stay safe.

Oh! Unemplyment is meant for permanent resident or citizens...But could be filed if you loose your job with a valid EAD. Since you dont have valid work authorization you are not advised to file for unemployment. Since you had done it, lets wait and see the consequences. Should have waited! Getting Approval is not a matter with SSN but you should be lucky if they never dig deep and see if you have valid EAD or not at that time. Lets hope for the best

Hello All!!! A long time has passed since the last time I logged in here. Congrats to all approvals!!! I feel so desperate with this virus like never before. January got my courtesy letter  and  haven’t heard nothing after that , its been 2 years since I started this journey this pandemic I think made it worst. Last threats people had their interviews faster until this year 😓

I applied in April 2018, I had a RFE in October 2019, I answered the RFE in November 2019 for good faith marriage and I got approved on the 12 of May 2020. It took them 2 years to approve my case

Oh! Though it was unfortunate for them to sent the RFE so late like on 18th month, but they made it approved on 25th month which is like 2 years and one month. I believe in the worst case they are gonna approve it lately within 2 years....Thanks God!.......In my case, RFE requested was on 2nd month after my filing and submitted those requirements and its been 19th month running as on date. Hope I will have to wait any day from now until 5 months :(

Dear! I told her a honest answer not to make her feel guilt. She is truly gonna ask others answer too. I did not want to lie to her. My understanding is unemployment applies to those who have valid EAD /GC or citizens who have lost their job. I  know many citizens who work in other states never filed unemployment and people who have no valid work authorization never filed. i dont know what are te criterias they considered for the Approval.

Again and again, we are here to help people with our honest answers and opinion and for sure if others can correct their view and opinion , it would help him / her.
